Yesterday, this fire hydrant lost an argument with a golf cart in front of Del Webb.

While the hydrant is now leaning a bit more than weโ€™d prefer, it has been inspected by the water department and remains fully operational. Most importantly, it is not affecting our ability to provide fire protection to the community.

Weโ€™ll leave the golf cart driving tips to others, but weโ€™re happy to report the hydrant is still ready to go if needed.

Duck, duck, rescue?

At Central Berkeley Fire & EMS, we like to say no job is too small or beneath usโ€ฆ even when the job is literally small and literally beneath us.

Today, our crews responded to a rather unique rescue assignment involving a family of adorable fluffy ducklings who found themselves trapped in a storm drain after the recent weather. After a little teamwork, patience, and some expert-level duck wrangling, the entire family was safely rescued and handed over to a local animal rescue to be reunited with their mom.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ As Memorial Day weekend begins, Central Berkeley Fire & EMS would like to remind everyone to stay safe while enjoying time on the water. Whether youโ€™re spending the day on Lake Moultrie, the Tail Race Canal, or anywhere in between, please wear your life jacket, keep an eye on the weather, and make smart decisions so everyone makes it home safely.

While many are enjoying the holiday weekend with family and friends, our Special Operations Team stands ready to respond whenever needed.

From the rough waters of Lake Moultrie, to the remote rice fields along the Tail Race Canal, our crews train year-round to operate in some of the most challenging environments in Berkeley County.

No matter the conditions, Central Berkeleyโ€™s Special Operations Division is prepared to answer the call.

Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend, and please take a moment to remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿšค๐ŸŒŠ
