Chattooga County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program supported by FEMA that educates and trains everyday citizens in basic disaster preparedness and emergency response skills.

Chattooga County CERT members receive training in areas such as:

Disaster preparedness and emergency readiness
Fire safety
Light search and rescue
Basic medical response and triage
Teamwork and emergency response operations

Once trained, Chattooga County CERT members can assist Public Safety responders, neighborhoods, community events, and our community in many different ways.

CERT volunteers can provide valuable support during emergencies and disasters, helping communities prepare, respond, and recover while professional first responders are focused on the most critical needs.

LOGAN’S LIST — HELPING FIRST RESPONDERS BETTER SERVE OUR COMMUNITY

Logan’s List is authorized under Georgia House Bill 631, O.C.G.A. § 38-3-182. The program allows participating local 911 centers to maintain information that may help dispatchers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel better understand an individual’s needs before arriving at an emergency.

Please review all of the information available on the Logan’s List form.

It is important to understand that Logan’s List flags a residence—not an individual by name. At this time, we do not have the ability to flag a specific person and alert responders if that individual is away from their registered residence.

If you know someone who may benefit from having this information available to 911 and emergency responders, please complete a Logan’s List form and return it using one of the two methods provided on the form.

This information can help give our first responders valuable insight before they arrive, allowing them to better understand and respond to the needs of those at the residence.

A little information ahead of time can make a big difference during an emergency.

⚠️ TRAVEL ALERT — TREES DOWN

We are still seeing several trees falling due to the rain and storms that moved through earlier this morning.

If you are traveling and encounter a tree blocking the roadway, please call 911 to report it. This will allow crews to be dispatched as quickly as possible to remove the tree and make the roadway safe.

CHATTOOGA COUNTY SCHOOLS ARE OPERATING ON A TWO HOUR DELAY DUE TO THE POWER OUTAGE IN LYERLY.

Multiple widespread power outages are being reported by Georgia Power across Chattooga and Floyd Counties after thunderstorms moved through the area overnight. One of the largest is in the Lyerly area. Restoration times have not been posted.

The Chattooga County Senior Center will be host a Hot Dog lunch and Bake Sale on August 21st, 2026, from 10 am - 2 pm. Go by and pick up your lunch and get some sweet treats to help them out.
