The Leadership Dorchester class of 2026 has chosen The ARK for their service project! They are raising funds for a new pavilion. There are several ways to support their efforts this month!
💜 Purchase a commemorative brick for $100 and leave a lasting tribute to a loved one. These engraved bricks will become part of the pavilion alongside salvaged bricks from the historic Berlin G. Myers property.
💜 Stop by any REV Federal Credit Union branch during June and purchase a purple ribbon for just $5 in honor or memory of someone affected by Alzheimer's. No REV account is required to participate.

Last week, we were generously granted funds from the Summerville Junior Service League from the proceeds from the Kentucky Derby.

We are incredibly grateful to have been a partner organization with JSL this year! Not only do they grant funds to The ARK but they volunteer at several of our fundraising events throughout the year. Thank you for your service and dedication to The ARK and the many other partner organizations in our community.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE 27TH ANNUAL MCELVEEN RACE FOR THE ARK!!! 🏃‍♂️

Join us for the 27th Annual McElveen Race for The ARK. The race is set for Saturday, August 15 in Downtown Summerville. Between May 21 - 26, we are running a Memorial Day Weekend Special for $5 off registration using the code RFTA2026 (cap sensitive).

This race includes a 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run – both races begin and end at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 206 Central Avenue in Summerville. The USATF-certified course winds through historic downtown Summerville. The 5K begins at 7:45 a.m. and the 1-mile fun run kicks off at 9:00 a.m. Awards begin IMMEDIATELY following the 1-mile fun run.

Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female winners as well as in several age groups. Plus, $100 will awarded to the first male and female to break the course records (15:40 male and 17:51 female). The ARK is offering ONE free beer to runners 21+ that show their ID & race bib!*

Registration and packet pickup will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 at The ARK House and from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on site race day. During packet pickup and on race day, registration for the 5K is $40. For the 1-mile fun run, it’s $15 or $35 for a family of four (without T-shirts).

For an art project today, we drew our own fishes! 🐠

This may seem like a small task but in reality it allows for our club members to express themselves creatively and builds self confidence by allowing them to be in control of the design.

We incorporate some sort of art project in our daily programs as well as cognitive activities, chair exercises, hand eye coordination exercises & more!
