Did you know you have a legal right to timely healthcare? 🏥
Under the VA’s designated access standards, the VA must provide you with an appointment within 20 days for primary care and 28 days for specialty care from your request date. If they cannot meet these timelines, you could get a referral to a local provider in your own community. Know your rights and get the timely care you deserve. See the flier below. ➡️

Are you eligible for Community Care?

Community Care may be an option for eligible Veterans when VA cannot provide the care they need in a way that meets certain access, distance, or clinical requirements.

Eligibility depends on each Veteran’s situation and must be coordinated through VA.

SCAM ALERT!

A graphic circulating online claiming VA is offering free athletic shoes from major brands has been identified as a scam by the VA national office, as well as our Whole Health program.

Athletic shoes through VA are not available through online offers, brand-selection links, promotional emails or third-party sign-ups.

Shoes are only available by prescription for Veterans with diabetes or to accommodate an orthopedic condition. VA only provides shoes that are medically required.

Veterans should not click suspicious links, enter personal information or provide payment details in response to these posts or messages.

Questions? Please contact your VA care team directly through official VA channels.

VETERANS BEWARE: Not all "help" is equal. đźš«
Although we aren't federal employees, the Dorchester County Veterans Affairs team is VA-accredited and recognized by the VA as VSOs.
PROTECT YOUR BENEFITS: Beware of unaccredited companies or "consultants" not recognized by the VA. They are not authorized to represent you. Stick with the experts you can trust—for free.

Helping veterans get through the red tape of applying for VA disability benefits has become a multibillion-dollar industry over the past decade. Which might be surprising, because charging vets for such help may be against federal law, but this hasn't stopped many consulting companies.
