This is wild.

The Post and Courier acknowledges Alan Wilson’s irresponsible partisanship and admits “even if this is a show,” they find his election-year behavior convincing. They don’t necessarily prefer his policies to Jermaine Johnson’s, either.

But they’re endorsing him anyway. 🧐

Meanwhile, they dismiss Jermaine as someone who gives great speeches, then acknowledge that he’s gotten his ideas incorporated into Republican-sponsored legislation. A Democrat getting things done in a Republican-controlled legislature takes serious persistence, negotiation and the ability to work across party lines.

So Jermaine has **actually demonstrated** the very thing they’re praising Wilson for *promising.*

They quote a supporter calling Jermaine an “advocate extraordinaire.” Advocating for your constituents and getting their needs addressed in legislation is *literally* the job. Doing it from the minority party deserves credit.

So Wilson gets credit for what they *hope* he’ll become. Jermaine gets his *actual accomplishments* minimized.

Got it. 🥴

How much longer are we going to keep electing Republicans while hoping they’ll do better? After 24 years of Republican governors, we’re heading into another election being asked to give them four more years to get it right?!

If Wilson still needs to overcome serious concerns about his judgment after **16 years in office,** why should South Carolina give him a promotion?
