We’re a group of Chinese residents of Summit, NJ and nearby towns, who volunteer at the Summit Public Library.

We are currently running a biweekly Chinese Culture Club program and organizing the library’s Lunar New Year celebration every year.

🎨Our 6th Lunar New Year Art Show Award Ceremony was such a joyful and heartwarming celebration!

We are so proud of all our young artists who shared their creativity and spirit with the community. This year’s collaboration with the National Summer Reading theme (Unearth a Story) made the event even more special, connecting art, reading, and cultural celebration in a powerful way. A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers, judges, supportive families, and our honored guest Councilman Bob Pawlowski for presenting the awards.

Special thanks to Summit Free Public Library for being such an amazing partner and host.

Grateful for this beautiful community — and already looking forward to next year! ✨

🐎🔥 Happy Year of the Fire Horse! 🔥🐎

Despite the below zero deep freeze temperatures🥶, over 600 community members still came together at Summit Free Public Library and Summit Area YMCA to celebrate our 13th Annual Lunar New Year — truly feeling the warmth, energy, and spirit of the Fire Horse!

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful performers, sponsors, donors, the dedicated Library and YMCA teams, our amazing volunteers, and everyone who joined us and made the day so vibrant and joyful.

May the Year of the Fire Horse bring strength, courage, warmth, and bold new opportunities to all.

Lunar New Year Celebration organized by Summit Library Chinese Club 🎉🧧

We are pleased to invite the community to join us for our 13th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, hosted at Summit Area YMCA and Summit Free Public Library, with chief guest Summit Mayor Elizabeth Fagan MD, and council persons.

🎨 The 2026 Lunar New Year Art Show opens for submissions on January 1!

We invite K–8 students in Summit and nearby communities to join us and share their creativity 🎉

This year’s theme connects with the 2026 Summer Reading theme, “Unearth a Story” (探索埋藏的世界）inspiring young artists to explore archaeology, paleontology, dinosaurs, and the stories hidden in the past.

✨ Participants may have the chance to:
• Have their artwork featured in the Summit Free Public Library ‘s annual Summer Reading booklet
• Win an Amazon gift card
• Receive an official certificate from Summit Free Public Library & Summit Library Chinese Club
• See their art used in library merchandise and community promotions

Huge thanks to our volunteers for another wonderful Chinese Calligraphy Workshop today! It’s amazing to see more neighbors becoming interested in Chinese calligraphy and culture. We truly appreciate everyone’s support.

If you’d like to join us, our in-person Chinese Calligraphy Workshop is held every 4th Sunday afternoon at the Summit Free Public Library. We welcome all ages and skill levels—whether you’re a beginner or already practicing. Come learn, create, and connect with us!

Hands, yarn, and lots of smiles! 🌸

Yesterday’s Chinese Corner at Summit Free Public Library was a joy — our “Happy Yarn” theme Chinese program had children and parents creating colorful yarn flowers, no knitting required! 💐✨

Chinese Corner is a monthly cultural immersion program. Join us next month for a sweet treat — Sugar Painting! 🍭🎨

Congratulations to the winners at our 5th Annual Lunar New Year Art contest, and we applaud every participant as well, all poured their hearts into their artwork.

Proud to have helped expand Summit Library’s Chinese language collection to 1,100 books! Come explore in originals, translations, and bilingual editions - all searchable in both English and Chinese.

We are excited to announce the result of the 2025 Summit Library Lunar New Year Art Show! The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 10:00 am at Summit Public Library, where a city council member will present the awards.

Each winner will receive an Amazon gift card, a picture frame, and a special award certificate.

All participants will also receive a certificate of participation and a small gift in recognition of their efforts.
