The City of Summit’s fifth annual Juneteenth event will be held as a two-part event for 2026, including a flag raising ceremony on the Village Green and a pool party celebration at the Summit Family Aquatic Center (SFAC). Both events are free and open to all members of the public; SFAC membership is not required to attend.

A flag raising ceremony will be held at 3PM on Friday, June 19, on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street in Summit. The pool party celebration will be held from 12PM to 5PM on Saturday, June 20, at the Summit Family Aquatic Center, located at 100 Ashwood Avenue in Summit.

Attendees are invited to swim at the pool party celebration that will feature food trucks, children’s activities, music and entertainment, a flag raising ceremony, and more:

1PM Flag raising ceremony, remarks and performance by Lulu Gurrero
3PM Double Dutch Lyfe Demo and Trials
4PM Steel Drums Performance

Black-owned businesses and non-profit organizations are invited to participate in the vendor and display fair. Please contact David Guida at [email protected] by June 5, 2026, to sign up.

Summit Has Pride Event Returns Sunday, June 14, 2026

SUMMIT, NJ, June 1, 2026 – The City of Summit’s annual LGBTQ+ Pride Month event, Summit Has Pride, will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 3PM to 5:30PM on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street in Summit.

Summit Has Pride celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in Summit and surrounding areas. The event will feature a musical performance by former The Voice contestant Sabrina Dias at 3PM and The Bad Judies in concert at 4PM. The event will also include health and educational displays from organizations serving the LGBTQ+ community, special art activities, food trucks, a photo booth station, and more. The event is free and open to all members of the public.

This event is sponsored by Atlantic Health, the Jewish Federation of MetroWest New Jersey, and Saint John’s Lutheran Church.

REMINDER: Join us Saturday for the Pet Show

The Summit Department of Community Programs is hosting the annual Police Athletic League (PAL) Pet Show on Saturday, May 30, on the Village Green, located at 356 Broad Street. Registration for the free event begins at 1PM and judging begins at 1:30PM.
The competition will be organized into two categories: a competition for dogs only and an all-other pet exhibition. In the dog show, small, medium, and large dogs will compete with their owners by walking across the stage in front of the judges. The all-other pet exhibition will include animals such as cats, reptiles, and birds on an auxiliary stage. All pets must be kept on leashes or in pet carriers during the event.
Prizes will be provided by the PAL and awarded for each category, and for participation. At the conclusion of the show, there will be an announcement of the “Best in Show” from the main stage
