Yesterday was a magical day at Mabie Playground. We had the opportunity to celebrate years of work that culminated in the beautiful new playground at Mabie Playground.
Thank you to everyone who made this project possible and joined us yesterday.
Suburban Consulting Engineers were the project engineers who developed our playground Master Plan. Shout out to Kris Kemper and Joe Perello.
MRC Recreation Designed the play equipment and supplied the 100% ADA accessible design. Keith Davis and Mike Novak were amazing partners in this project.
Whirl Construction built the park from the ground up and were dedicated to being on site every day. A special thank you to Jim, Glenn, Martine and Dee. And, so much gratitude to Eric LeGrand, a partner of Whirl, for inspiring us all with your remarks.
Without our funders, this project would not be what it is today.
Yesterday Commissioner Palmeri-Mouded joined us from County of Union, New Jersey to represent the contribution from the Kids Recreation Trust Fund Grant.
Bruce Betchoff joined us from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection where received $750,000 from the Jake’s Law Grant program.
Christina Curiale from the Junior League of Summit and Dana Turk and Leah Griffith of The Summit Foundation represented their amazing contributions toward the park.
The DCP has been lucky to have the unwavering support in this project from all Common Council Members dating back to 2021; and both former Mayor Nora Radest and Mayor Elizabeth Fagan.
And to our city staff -
Mark Ozoroski and the entire DCP Advisory Board, especially Sharon Clark, Diane Gallo, Katherine Righi, Jenny Winters, and Kerry Relf-Baker.
Aaron Schrager, Kirilos Salama, and Ingrid Witty of the Engineering Department who kept the project going.
Nathasha Matisa our QPA and Jennifer Kobliska of the finance department for managing the purchasing, contracts and payments.
Rosemary Licatese of the Clerks Office for coordinating numerous grant resolutions and project requirements.
Megan Trindell from our Press Office for being on hand at community meetings, ground breakings and ribbon cuttings.
And, Tammie Baldwin, City Administrator/CFO for leading the City through the project.
Thank you.
We hope that this will be a playground that will leave a mark on all Summit children’s lives for years to come.
