❤️Many of you have asked how you can help❤️

With the dry conditions and high temperatures across Lamar County, our firefighters and first responders are working long hours in difficult conditions. If you would like to help, Lamar County CERT will be collecting bottled water, Gatorade, Powerade, electrolyte drinks, and snacks for them tomorrow. They will ensure they get where they are needed the most.

🔥 HIGH FIRE DANGER — PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION 🔥

The Chicota Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone to be extra careful during periods of high fire danger. Dry vegetation, low humidity, heat, and wind can allow a small spark to become a fast-moving wildfire.

🚒 Help us protect our community:

* Avoid outdoor burning during high fire danger.
* Never toss ci******es from a vehicle.
* Use extra caution with welding, grinding, and other equipment that can create sparks.
* Keep vehicles and equipment away from tall, dry grass.
* Make sure trailer chains are secured and not dragging on the roadway.
* Completely extinguish campfires, fire pits, and other permitted fires.
* Keep dry grass, leaves, and other combustible material cleared away from homes and buildings.
* If you see smoke or an uncontrolled fire, call 911 immediately.

Please don’t take chances. One spark is all it takes.

These two young men are long time members of the Chicota VFD. Starting in our Jr Firefighter program. Help us congratulate them on their graduation tonight from North Lamar High School Class of 2026. As these two young Men venture into adulthood we are certain they are going to do amazing things. Both of these young men are dedicated Christians and have their education futures lined out.

Blake & Landon it’s been a true honor to watch you both grow into the fine young men you’ve become. I pray God continues to guide you both. Gentlemen job well done.
