Three district school librarians attended the "Celebrating the Right To Read" event at the South Carolina Museum today. We had a table where visitors could learn how to make black out poetry from old, weeded books. It was a great learning experience and those who participated seemed to have a lot of fun.

Our group had the privilege of decorating a Christmas tree at Prisma Tuomey yesterday for their "Festival of Trees". Every school library is represented on the tree! If you would like to see our tree in person, this one is located by the main lobby elevators. But be sure to have a look at all the other trees scattered around the hospital! There are some very creative trees🎄

Our first group community outreach event was a success! Together, we participated in the 2022 Iris Festival's Safe Kids Zone. We offered storytelling and a free bookmark making station. Our tent was definitely a hit. We were able to offer information about the Sumter Public Library's Summer Reading program. We gave out pencils, stickers, and erasers. We were even able to give out a few books that were donated by Prisma Hospital. We cannot wait until our next community outreach event.
