🥾 March in Memoriam 🥾

Recently, came out to a ruck hosted by the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight. Marchers were challenged to carry 40 pounds in their packs over the course of 10 kilometers to commemorate the sacrifices of Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice.

Even as time passes, our mission to honor the memory and preserve the legacy of those who paid the highest price for our freedom will never change. 🇺🇲

A Trail Ended, a Legacy Celebrated 🎖️

Yesterday, we recognized Chief Master Sgt. Christopher Griste, our 20th Fighter Wing command chief, as he officially retired from the United States Air Force. The ceremony included tributes and mementos to his time as a first sergeant, chief master sergeant, and his entire career of unwavering commitment as a true warrior and exceptional Airman. But, what truly captured the impact of his 30 years of service was the outpouring of support from family, friends, and Airmen from and beyond during the ceremony.

Chief Griste, through every achievement we’ve realized and every trial we’ve faced over the past few years, you were there to guide us with a steadying hand, invaluable wisdom, and heart that truly cared. It was an honor and privilege to have you as our Valor Chief, and we wish you, Jamie, and your entire family blue skies and tailwinds as you take off for your next adventure!

This week’s edition takes us to the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron’s pavements and construction equipment section, affectionately known as the “Dirt Boys.” 🪏 20th Fighter Wing leaders got to test-drive their heavy construction equipment and got a first-hand look at the progress they’ve made at one of their many projects around the base. 👷 🚧

While they were there, our leadership took the time to recognize Staff Sgt. Garrett Cothran as the . Staff Sgt. Cothran has been assigned to Shaw since 2023. His favorite part about being a dirt boy is getting to use heavy equipment like excavators and dump trucks. Outside of work, he enjoys basketball, fishing, and spending time with his family. Thanks for all you do for Team Shaw, Staff Sgt. Cothran! 👏
