Introduction to Teaching students at Sumter Career and Technology Center had an engaging and thought-provoking round table discussion today with County Council Representative Jim McCain, Director of the Sumter County Elections and Voter Registration Patricia Jefferson, Mayor David Merchant, lawyer and SSD School Board member Bonnie Disney at USC Sumter.

SCTC Parent Open House was a success. We greatly enjoyed speaking with all the parents and students that attended. Looking forward to a great year!

The Introduction to Teaching students participated in the USC orientation for dual enrollment courses. Students in the program will take four dual enrollment courses and participate in education apprenticeships.

We are excited to share the finalists of Microburst Learning's Instructor Appreciation Contest, and we will announce the grand prize winner by the end of THIS WEEK!

We had an outstanding number of great submissions for this contest, and we had the distinct pleasure of reading ALL the entries about how these teachers have positively impacted their schools while implementing Microburst Learning EmployABILITY Soft Skills.

Here is a spotlight on one of the top 10 finalists, Christy Helms of Sumter Career and Technology Center. She was nominated by her students who said:

"She's the best teacher I've ever had and she does whatever she can to help you and give you good advice whenever you need her. She's more than a teacher to me."

"Ms. Helms always tells us how it's (EmployABILITY Soft Skills) going to benefit us in the future."

Congratulations to Mrs. Kimberly Browning! She was selected as the Induction Teacher of the Year representing secondary education. Sumter School District recocognized all of the 2025-2026 induction teachers. Representiong SCTC was Mr. Randall Stewart, Ms. Christy Helms and Mrs. Kimberly Browning.
