Arizona Fire & Medical Authority

Arizona Fire & Medical Authority We proudly serve the areas of Buckeye Valley, Guadalupe, Sun City West, Sun Lakes, Tonopah, Wittmann, and other unincorporated areas of Maricopa County.

"Our mission is to protect life and property and to enhance the well-being of all those we serve." Arizona Fire & Medical Authority officially formed under a Joint Power Authority (JPA) on July 1, 2017. To date Sun Lakes Fire District and North County Fire & Medical District are member agencies. Both organizations are Fire Districts, however JPAs can include any federal, state, county or local fir

e agencies. Although JPAs have been in use for many years they are new to our state, Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority was the first JPA of its kind in Arizona, and was formed in October of 2015. CAFMAโ€™s member agencies include Central Yavapai and Chino Valley Fire Districts. JPAs are a legal agreement between two or more public agencies that share a common goal and want to jointly implement programs, build facilities, or deliver services. Together member agencies cut costs by reducing or eliminating overlapping services and sharing resources, which promotes an economy of scale and efficiency. As individual fire departments continue to struggle with the ever-increasing costs associated with public safety, JPAs offer financial stability and efficiency by working together under one organization through shared services.

We are so excited to welcome our newest hiring class of EMTs and Paramedics! ๐Ÿš‘
Our new members were fortunate to get some firsthand experience with one of our flight paramedics, who gave them an inside look at our HALO program and the opportunities it provides.
Weโ€™re excited to have you on the team and canโ€™t wait to see where your careers with AFMA take you!

Itโ€™s been a busy day in Sun City West and Wittmann, with our members responding to back-to-back vehicle accidents.
The first incident involved a vehicle accident that resulted in a vehicle fire. Two patients were able to self-extricate, and one patient was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The second accident occurred on Grand Avenue and involved two patients. One patient was transported to a local trauma center. The cause of the accident is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
As you head out on the road, please slow down, stay alert, and drive safely. If youโ€™re hauling items in a truck bed, make sure everything is properly secured before you hit the road.
Stay safe out there! ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿš Another HALO flight in the books!
Our HALO unit based in Buckeye continues to serve not only our local community partners, but also the rural communities across Maricopa County.
This flight took our crew to Aguila Fire Department, located in northwest Maricopa County, providing critical air medical support when it was needed most.
Weโ€™re proud to partner with agencies across our region and help bring advanced medical care to communities, no matter how remote. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš

Last night in Sun Lakes, our crews responded to a vehicle rollover that resulted in a vehicle fire. One patient was trapped inside the vehicle and was in critical condition.
Medic 341 and BC341 were first on scene and immediately used the resources available to them to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. With assistance from Chandler Fire Department, crews worked together to safely extricate the patient and transport them to a local trauma center in critical condition.
Weโ€™re proud of the teamwork and quick response shown by everyone involved.

Earlier today, our crews responded to a fully involved vehicle fire in Sun City West, right outside Station 333. Thanks to the quick response of our crews, the fire was quickly brought under control.
Thankfully, no civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.
And while our firefighters handled the fire, Deputy Chief Puckett stepped in to help guide traffic and keep everyone moving safely. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’
Great teamwork all around! ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿšจ See lights? Hear sirens? Move to the right! ๐Ÿš’
When emergency vehicles are approaching, safely pull over and give our crews the space they need to respond. A few seconds of awareness can make a life-saving difference.
Keep our responders and your community safe โ€” slow down, move over, and let us get through.
