There’s a reading program for everyone – babies through teens! (And adults, too!) Register for the Summer Reading Program in person or online anytime between June 8 and August 8.

Record your reading on a paper log or in the Beanstack app. Log books (titles) or minutes (time) – whatever works best for you! There’s even a program just for babies that also includes songs, rhymes, and activities!

The more you read, the more prizes you earn! Complete 75 books, 12 hours, or 15 hours to earn all the prizes, a pass to the exclusive Library Pool Party in August, and your “Library Champion” sign!

Koo Koo Summer Kickoff! Saturday, June 13
SHOWTIMES: 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM
Koo Koo is described as “the Beastie Boys meet Sesame Street,” and billed as a sassy, interactive, dance party duo with bangers for all ages!

Activities from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Have fun with games, crafts, and more both inside and outside the Library! Face painting by Antsy Pants Face Painting will be on site and available for free to all, thanks to the Friends of the Sun Prairie Public Library.

If you get hungry, food trucks (Guimo’s, Kona Ice, Primal Cue) will be on site, with food available for purchase.

Thanks to the SPPL Foundation for their generous support of Koo Koo Summer Kickoff and the Summer Reading Program.

All library programs are free and open to the public.

And the parking lot is on schedule to open on Monday, June 1st!

Hi, it's us again, your local public library, with another parking lot update....

The parking lot will REOPEN on Monday, June 1st! We're very excited to have a parking lot back and we know you are too. Thank you so much for your patience during this project.

Here are some reminders for the week ahead:
•We have reopened the outdoor book drops, they are available for walk-up returns.
• All holds that are currently on our shelves have been extended until Friday, May 29th.
• If you cannot make it into the library to pick up your holds, call the library at 608-825-7323 and set up an appointment with staff to pick-up items at Sheehan Park.
• Keep in mind that Sun Prairie items have no daily overdue fines, so it's okay to turn them in late!
•Our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is this Friday, May 29 at 8:30am! A limited number of parking spots will be open at the overflow VFW parking lot on Friday morning for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. We ask that these spots be reserved for our patrons with limited mobility, and all others park at Sheehan Park. The overflow lot is near the VFW Memorial, on Sunfield Street and can be accessed via S. Walker Way.

Library staff discussed our newly renovated and expanded spaces, which include:
Teen Space
Aquarium
Outdoor Amphitheater & Kind Stage
Makerspace (called The Mixer - officially opening in June)
The Atrium
A larger youth services space
More study rooms
A drive-up window and outdoor lockers for holds pickup

Planning for the project began in 2018, according to library leaders. Library leaders created an advisory task force of more than 50 residents to help guide the project.
