🚔 Fi****ms Located at Sheehan Park 🚔

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, at approximately 7:03 p.m., a Sun Prairie Police Officer conducting proactive patrol at Sheehan Park contacted the occupants of a parked vehicle.

As part of the investigation, officers located three fi****ms with extended magazines, along with additional magazines, inside the vehicle. Three individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Dane County Jail.

Our officers regularly patrol city parks and community spaces because these locations are important gathering places for families, children, and residents. Maintaining a visible presence helps us build relationships, solve problems, and ensure our parks remain safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Sun Prairie Police Department is referring the following charges to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office:

On Thursday, 05/28, the Sun Prairie Police Department’s Chief of Police Advisory Board (CAB) met for its monthly meeting, bringing together community members and department leadership to continue important conversations focused on public safety, partnerships, and strengthening our community relationships.

While the CAB plays an important role in providing feedback, perspectives, and collaboration to help guide community policing efforts in Sun Prairie, there is no question that the highlight of the evening was K9 Eragon.

Sgt. Jason Lingle and Eragon joined the meeting to share more about the Sun Prairie Police Department’s K9 Program, and the important role police service dogs play in protecting our community. From tracking suspects and locating evidence to assisting in high-risk situations and helping keep officers and residents safe, the K9 Program is a valuable resource and critical tool for the department.

Eragon quickly won over the room with his energy, discipline, and personality. Board members had the opportunity to learn about his training, daily responsibilities, and the strong bond he shares with Sgt. Lingle. Of course, Eragon also enjoyed some well-earned attention, showing off his favorite toy and making new friends along the way.

The Sun Prairie Police Department is proud of the work our K9 teams do each day to serve and protect the community. Eragon is not only an incredible asset to the department, but also a great ambassador for building positive relationships and connections with the people we serve.

On Thursday, 05/28, the Sun Prairie Police Department had the privilege of attending the House Opening on Kamperschroer Way in Sun Prairie and would like to sincerely thank Operation Fresh Start (OFS) for the invitation and for the incredible work they continue to do in our community.

For more than 55 years, OFS has quietly and consistently changed lives throughout Sun Prairie and the greater Madison area. Through their dedication to young people and families, they have helped countless individuals develop valuable job skills, find meaningful employment, and build brighter futures — including helping people achieve the dream of having a place to call home.

At a time when communities everywhere continue to face affordable housing challenges, today served as a reminder of what can happen when organizations invest in people with compassion, patience, opportunity, and purpose. OFS and Habitat for Humanity embody values of commitment, equity, dedication, opportunity, career pathways, and the persistence it takes to complete long-term projects that truly transform lives.

One of the most inspiring moments of the day came from Tremal, who helped build this home and shared his personal journey with OFS. Hearing him speak about the growth and confidence he has gained both personally and professionally was a powerful reminder that when people are supported, encouraged, and believed in, they can accomplish remarkable things.

OFS and Habitat for Humanity do more than build homes — they help build people. They walk alongside young individuals entering the workforce, and when obstacles arise, they remain shoulder to shoulder with them, helping them keep moving forward.

The Sun Prairie Police Department is proud to support organizations like Operation Fresh Start and Habitat for Humanity. Partnerships like these are what make a community stronger, kinder, and more connected, and today was a wonderful example of hope being built one opportunity at a time.

The “Click It or Ticket” campaign is underway, reminding drivers and passengers that seat belts save lives. Whether you’re headed across town or across the state, taking a few seconds to buckle up can make all the difference.

Our officers will be actively enforcing seat belt laws to help keep everyone safe on the roadways. Seat belts are your best defense in a crash — don’t risk it.

✔️ Buckle up
✔️ Make sure your passengers do too
✔️ Drive safely and distraction-free

🪿 A Wild Rescue with a Happy Ending 🪿

Not all heroes wear badges… some show up with fishing nets, determination, and two very helpful kids. 💙

Recently, Officer Moss responded to assist with an injured goose that had become hooked and entangled in fishing line. With the help of John and his sons, Jackson and Reed, the team was able to safely capture the goose and perform what could only be described as some emergency field surgery to remove the hook and fishing line.

After a little teamwork, patience, and care, our feathered friend was back on her feet (or webbed feet 🦶🪿), waddling away and on the road to regaining her ability to fly.

Because of her strength and resilience through the ordeal, we’re giving her a name: Bella Goose. 💪🪿

A huge thank you to John, Jackson, and Reed for stepping up to help Officer Moss. Acts like these remind us that solving problems and building relationships extends beyond people—it includes caring for the animals and wildlife that share our community too.

We’re happy to report Bella Goose is doing much better, and we’re hopeful she’ll be soaring again soon. ❤️
