🚲🛺 E-Bikes, Golf Carts & More! Let’s Share the Road, Sunbury! 🛴🚗

You’ve probably noticed more e-bikes, golf carts, reduced-speed vehicles and other multi-use vehicles around Sunbury, and we’re glad to see residents enjoying new ways to get around our community! Of course, with more ways to move comes a few important rules and responsibilities. 👀

The Sunbury Police Department has a new and improved webpage with helpful information about:

🔋 E-Bikes: Learn the differences between Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes, including speed, equipment, age and helmet requirements.

🛺 Golf Carts & Reduced-Speed Vehicles: Find out where these vehicles may operate and what requirements apply, including registration, insurance, licensing, safety equipment and inspections.

📋 Helpful Resources — We’ve also included links to Ohio laws, state resources and additional safety information so you can get the facts in one place.

⚠️ One important update: The City of Sunbury is currently reviewing a proposed ordinance specifically addressing e-bikes. Until that process is complete, riders should continue following applicable Ohio laws, existing City ordinances, posted signs and general traffic-safety requirements.

So, whether you’re pedaling, cruising or driving, slow down, stay alert, give others plenty of space and share the road responsibly. ❤️

Join us for the 5th Annual Overdose Awareness Event at Ohio Wesleyan University on the JAYwalk in downtown Delaware on Monday, August 31 11a-1p.

Come together with our community to:
✨ Learn about safe medication storage and disposal
✨ Receive a free locking medication container or safe
✨ Connect with prevention, treatment, and recovery resources
✨ Pick up a free naloxone kit, provided by the Delaware Public Health

There is no cost to attend. Come as you are, learn, connect, and help us reduce stigma and strengthen hope. 💜

As students and staff are 1/2 way through the first full week of school, we’re reintroducing you to the familiar faces of our School Resource Officers.

Our SROs are more than just a uniform in the hallway, they’re here to build relationships, answer questions, support our school community, and be someone students know they can turn to.

🚌 Ride the Sizzle Shuttle! 🎉
Getting to and from the Sizzle is easy! Our FREE shuttle service will be running throughout the event, with two convenient routes and stops approximately every 20 minutes.

🔴 RED ROUTE
• Big Walnut Middle School
• Redshank & Sunbury Meadows Dr. — Pool Parking Lot
• Sunbury Christian Church
• Foxcreek Pool

🟡 GOLD ROUTE
• Big Walnut Grill
• Mi Sombrero
• Big Walnut High School
• Fraternal Order of Eagles

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The route you take TO the Sizzle is the SAME route you must take HOME. If you ride the Red Route to the event, you’ll need to take the Red Route back. If you ride the Gold Route, you’ll need to take the Gold Route back. The routes are not interchangeable, so please remember which route you rode in on!

A little extra caution goes a long way in keeping everyone safe and helping everyone enjoy the event. Ride responsibly, watch for pedestrians, and slow your roll! 🚲

🚌 Your yearly reminder: STOP means STOP for school buses. 🦅

As students continue heading back to school, let’s all remember the laws for approaching buses.

🟡Yellow flashing lights mean prepare to stop.

🛑Red flashing lights with the stop arm extended mean STOP and stay stopped.

Give our kids the space they need to get to school safely. Never risk a child’s life by passing a stopped school bus.

Slow down. Pay attention. Stop for the bus.

Today marks the first day of school for some students at BWLS, and with the kids heading back, it’s a great time to get back to the basics of traffic safety!
