We want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who bought or sold raffle tickets for the 2025 Buffalo Hunt benefiting Crook County Fire!
Thanks to your support, we raised $11,810 for our local firefighters. While that’s a little short of previous years, we’re incredibly grateful for the generosity and spirit Crook County and the general hunting community continues to show.
Special recognition goes to our generous donor Chip Neiman for his outstanding contribution to this year’s raffle — your support means the world to us!
A big thank you also to the local businesses that helped us sell tickets:
• Sundance Hardware
• Stateline Station
• Black Anchor Products
• W Bar Feed & Ranch Supply
• Red Rock Cafe
• C&A Meats
• Aladdin General Store and RV Park
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for their incredible donations:
• IPY Ranch for donating the Buffalo Hunt
• C&A Meats for donating the processing
• Sundance Hardware for donating the gun
And congratulations to Pine Haven Fire Chief TJ Gideon, who topped the chart again for firefighter ticket sales this year!

Thank you all for your continued generosity and support of Crook County Fire. Together, we keep our community strong and safe!

Towns like Pine Haven rely on a network of volunteer firefighters with limited resources to battle sometimes-deadly blazes. In Crook County, property tax cuts have slashed an account meant for new fire engines and equipment.

🔥 Burn Ban Temporarily Lifted – Burn Safely and Responsibly! 🔥

The Stage 1 Burn Ban in Crook County is temporarily lifted. While burning is permitted, please be extra cautious:

*Pay close attention to wind conditions. Don’t burn when it’s windy.

*Keep a safe, cleared distance around any fire. At least 15 feet is recommended.

*Never leave your fire unattended. Make sure it is completely out before you leave.

*Have water, a shovel, and tools ready in case you need to put the fire out quickly.

IMPORTANT: If you plan to burn, you MUST call the Crook County Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at 307-283-1225 before you start.

Your caution helps protect our county from wildfires. Thank you for burning safely!

After a chilly morning across much of western and central Wyoming, temperatures will warm up today and we are looking at a quite pleasant and quiet rest of the work week. With breezy afternoon winds, elevated fire weather conditions will be in place across southwest and central WY for Wednesday and Thursday. We then look ahead to a wetter and cooler pattern for the weekend and into early next week.
