***Reporting Phone Line Issues***

Over the last year, many businesses and residents in the county, including the Sheriff’s Office and Courthouse, have been experiencing problems with receiving phone calls.

For the person calling, the issue presents itself as a call that will ring forever and nobody answers, a call that never rings, or a call that goes to an odd voicemail greeting with no way to leave a message.

For the person or business that should be receiving the call, they have no knowledge of the call as it does not ring through to them. It can take many tries to connect, or a different phone to call from, or telling the receiving party in person for the receiving party to know there was an issue.

The Crook County Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management, and other Courthouse officials have had meetings with Range Telephone, and we are told they are working with other phone companies to try and solve the issue.

If you are experiencing these types of problems with your, or your business, land lines, we recommend filing a complaint with the Wyoming Public Service Commission. They take complaints via an online form, through email, or regular mail. Here is the link for filing a complaint: https://psc.wyo.gov/home/file-a-complaint

Filing detailed complaints is important to help the phone companies track down these issues. From what we have learned, doing this process with the Public Service Commission is the best way to go about solving this problem. The more information they receive, the better.

Statements on SAPA (Second Amendment Protection Act) Legislation

Senator Ogden Driskill shared earlier today, “Getting lots of calls prompted by OUT OF STATE gun lobbying groups. THEY want YOU to stand against YOU LOCAL ELECTED law enforcement!!!!

I STAND WITH MY LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT- don’t be bullied by out of state dollars and pressure.”

Statement from Sheriff Hodge:

The current SAPA legislation has been shaped by out of state gun lobbyists like WYGO (Wyoming Gun Owners) and other out of state lobbyists.

All 23 Wyoming Sheriffs have raised concerns about this bill. Yet outside political organizations continue to exert significant influence over how Wyoming law is written.

This bill does nothing to strengthen your Second Amendment rights. Instead, it creates legal confusion and consequences that will benefit criminals more than law-abiding citizens.

We stand behind our legislators who refuse to be pressured or bullied by outside lobbyists and who are willing to put Wyoming first.

Wyoming law should be written by and for the people of Wyoming, not steered by outside agendas.

CASPER, Wyo. — Law enforcement agencies across the state are watching closely as a bill advances through the state legislature that they say would

****ICE RESCUE****

On Friday, February 27, Dispatch received a call of a dog that fell through the ice at Sundance Pond and couldn't get out. Deputies responded and gathered ice-rescue equipment that is stored near by. Within 5 minutes of the 911 call, Deputies were at the waters edge with rescue equipment. Within another minute, they were able to walk out to the dog and pull it to safety. While wet and cold, the dog appeared to be OK and was returned to its home.

We want to remind everyone to be cautious around ice. There is no "safe" ice, especially with the weather we have had this winter. If you find yourself or someone else in trouble on the ice, call 911 as soon as you can.
