The Summer Reading program wrapped up today with great weather, an awesome crowd, and special treats. It was hard to trim down the number of photos because we had so many! We started with snacks. Then announced winners including the guessing jar and top readers. Raffle tickets were then drawn before a special surprise from the Friends Group. The Kona Icee truck came again! We even posed for silly or just fun photographs. Before leaving, t-shirts were handed out, to those who earned them. It was all possible due to dedicated parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings, who were willing to help support all that were signed up. Thank you to everyone, including the great staff!

We were blessed to dodge the rain today. The group was smaller, but we still had fun with our "Sunfield Jurassic Games!" The Kona Icee Truck was sponsored by the Friends of the Library, and the kids were "digging" it.

We had wonderful weather today! Ashley from MDHHS came to demonstrate the importance of clean water, which fit perfectly with our "Unearth A Story" theme. She started with a cute story, traveled next to a hands on model of shared water systems and private well cycles. The kids loved the fact that you could see Sunfield's water tower from the Library pavilion. She finished up the event with a bracelet making kit that reminded the kids of the cycle of filtration. It was great to see the kids have so much fun learning!

We have been wonderfully busy at the Library, so there was a delay in getting this out. A huge "thank you" to the Welch Museum, Doug and Pearl, for all the stories! Memories were created.

Our Monday program kicked off with beautiful weather. We started it with a short intro to Owl pellets and what they are....

Our Monday program kicked off with beautiful weather. We started it with a short intro to Owl pellets and what they are. A few of the older kids were selected to start dissecting some softened pellets. The rest reviewed a previously torn apart pellet. It was fun to see the kids try to figure out the various bones and who they belong to. The group was then seated for a chance to break into cute dinosaur eggs. Once inside, they were able to figure out what dinosaur they uncovered by matching their dig to cards containing the various types. Other kids were working on hidden fossils of things like shells, rocks and sharks teeth. After everyone was done, we then viewed all of the things that the kids removed from their owl pellets. It was amazing! We had a great turn out, and everyone seemed to have fun. Thank you to all the people that helped make it so successful!
