The Phoenix neighborhood of Sunnyslope began to grow around tuberculosis colonies in the area. Arizona cities and towns had been advertising themselves as suitable for sufferers since the turn of the century. William R. Norton platted the subdivision known as Sunny Slope in 1911. The roots of the John C. Lincoln Health Network were laid before the end of the 1920s when the Desert Mission was established.
