Technology and data are most useful when they help education teams make better decisions.

In Nagaland, Vibha’s technical partnership with Samagra Shiksha is focused on strengthening the systems behind education programmes, so information can be collected, managed and used more effectively for planning, monitoring and review.

This work spans three initiatives: Library Management System (LMS), Nagaland Literacy & Numeracy Fest (NLNF) Data Collection Application, and PARAKH Holistic Progress Card (HPC) Assessment Platform.

The aim is to support stronger programme implementation, better monitoring and evidence-informed decision-making across the state.

Looking ahead, Vibha will continue providing technical support in data analysis, reporting systems, monitoring tools and capacity building, with a focus on strengthening institutional ownership.

What happens when STEM becomes accessible?

✨At International Community School (ICS), Vibha and its partners are creating more opportunities for students to learn STEM by doing, not just by reading about it.

From 3D printers and drones to robotics, coding and hands-on engineering, the STEM Lab gives all 529 K–5 students a dedicated space to explore, experiment and solve real-world problems.

Built through a seven-year partnership, with support from Vibha Georgia Tech volunteers, the lab is one part of a larger effort to expand meaningful learning opportunities.

✨In 1993, a young engineer named Vijay Vemulapalli sent a single letter across the ocean, asking how he could help underprivileged children back home.

That letter became a conversation. The conversation became a volunteer network. And over 35 years, that spirit of action became Vibha.

As Vibha evolved, so did the question: how do we strengthen the people and systems that make quality education possible?

In our latest feature, we speak with Vijay about that journey, from a volunteer network built across borders to an organisation focused on identifying, scaling and supporting solutions for children across India.

The correct answer is: A. Learning to Read → Reading to Learn.

By the end of Grade 3, children should ideally make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn.

In the early grades, children build foundational literacy skills; recognizing words, understanding sentences, and developing reading fluency. Once these skills are in place, reading becomes the gateway to learning every other subject, from science and mathematics to social studies.📚

When children are unable to make this transition, learning gaps can widen over time, making it more difficult to keep up as they progress through school.

That’s why strengthening foundational literacy is at the heart of improving learning outcomes, because when children learn to read, they gain the ability to learn for life.✨
