🚨 NOW HIRING: POLICE CLERK 🚨

Also known as: the person who helps keep the police department from turning into a paperwork tornado.

Sgt. Coonio has reviewed our current situation and determined that while he is excellent at morale, snacks, and impromptu trash-can inspections… he is not great at filing reports, tracking court paperwork, answering phones, or organizing records.

So, we’re hiring a full-time Police Clerk!

This position helps with records, reports, court paperwork, public records requests, equipment tracking, training files, community outreach, and all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps the department running.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, dependable, professional, detail-oriented, good with people, and able to handle confidential information.

Bonus points if you can stay calm when someone says, “I just have a quick question,” and then explains something that started in 1997.

📌 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
💵 $ 18.00 to $ 22.50 per hour, depending on qualifications
🎁 Insurance, LAGERS retirement, PTO, holidays, training opportunities, and more.

Please see the attached PDF for the full job posting and application information.

Applications will be accepted until June 17, or until the position is filled.

Come help us serve Sunrise Beach, support our officers, and keep Sgt. Coonio away from the documents!

Well… this is awkward.

After issuing challenges, talking a little trash, and preparing for what was sure to be a legendary showdown, Camp OBR has officially canceled the First Responder Grilling Challenge due to a lack of participating teams.

Unfortunately, this also means the Seafood Boil and Sunday’s scheduled events have been canceled as well.

Sgt. Coonio is taking the news particularly hard. He had already begun perfecting his secret burger recipe and was fully prepared to defend Sunrise Beach PD’s claim to the highly prestigious and completely unofficial title of “Lake Area Grilling Champion.”

The good news is that Camp OBR will still be on-site Saturday hosting grilling demonstrations, so if you’d like to learn a few tricks from the experts and support a great organization, stop by and check them out.

We appreciate Camp OBR and everything they do for veterans, first responders, and our community. We look forward to supporting future events and hopefully settling this rivalry another day.

Well… Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District still hasn’t answered our challenge.

We assume they’re waiting for a few more police officers to arrive and secure the scene before committing...

Since we’re still waiting on an answer, we’ve decided to look across the bridge.

Lake Ozark Police Department, this challenge is now headed your way.

We know you’re busy, between making sure every hair is perfectly in place, checking that the sleeves are properly fitted around the biceps, and preparing for your next camera appearance…

But on June 13th, we’re challenging you to step away from the mirror and step up to the grill at the Camp OBR Heroes Grilling Challenge.

The categories are burgers, tacos, and lamb. No arrests. No citations. No probable cause. Just smoke, fire, and bragging rights.

This will be a great opportunity for everyone to come out and support local first responders and a great cause. Come out to Captain Ron’s, enjoy some great food, and watch local first responders settle a rivalry the way mature professionals should:

Through completely unnecessary trash talk and competitive grilling!

Will Sunrise Beach Fire answer the challenge?

Will Lake Ozark PD trade their camera time for grill time?

Will Chief Craig and Officer Kralina embarrass themselves in front of the entire lake area?

There’s only one way to find out.

The bridge goes both ways… now let’s see who has the guts to cross it

On June 13th Chief Craig and Officer Kralina will competing as the “Sunrise Beach PD Thin Blue Smoke” in the Camp OBR Heroes Grilling Challenge at Captain Ron’s, and have an important question for the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District... Y’all coming, or are you just going to stand there holding the hose?

We know, we know, firefighters are experts at handling heat, have fancy trucks, big hoses, shiny helmets, and axes... But this time the challenge is not about spraying water on the problem. It is about burgers, tacos, lamb, smoke, sauce, and bragging rights.

The Saturday competition categories are burgers, tacos, and lamb, which means SBFPD has the perfect chance to prove they can do more than show up, twirl their mustaches, and flood the general area. Can they build a burger that does not need CPR? Can they taco-bout victory without requesting mutual aid? Can they cook lamb without turning it into a reportable incident? These are the hard-hitting questions that Sgt. Coonio needs answered.

And don’t worry Sunrise Beach Fire Fighters, it’s safe to enter, Sgt. Coonio has secured the scene! The smoke has been checked, the grill has been cleared, and the only thing still in danger is your pride.

So what’s it going to be SBFPD, are you bringing the heat… or getting hosed?

There was a time when the phrase “prison tatt” meant you were about to see a faded spider web, uneven lines, and ink applied with something suspiciously connected to a battery from a TV remote.

But in true Missouri fashion, Department of Corrections just said, “Hold my… root beer, let’s raise the bar a little.”

Now inmates are learning from licensed tattoo artists in not one, but TWO tattoo studios, earning certifications, developing job skills, and preparing for actual careers after release.

DOC has officially gone from:
“Done with a D cell, in Cell Block C with a melted pen and pure confidence” to “This dude has better line work than half the shops on Instagram.”

Jokes aside, this is what rehabilitation is supposed to look like, teaching real skills, discipline, professionalism, and giving people a legitimate opportunity to succeed when they get out.

You know somewhere right now, a guy with a crooked 1997 tribal armband is looking at this program thinking:
“Where was THIS when I got mine?” 🤣

Research has shown that stable employment after incarceration dramatically reduces the likelihood of someone reoffending. One new program in Missouri is helping inmates gain valuable and employable skills — as licensed tattoo artists.

Please help us welcome the newest addition to the Sunrise Beach Police Department and Westside family!

Officer Gregory officially graduated from the Lincoln University Law Enforcement Academy last Friday and is now joining the Sunrise Beach Police Department!

She brings experience in corrections, dispatching, EMS, firefighting, and somehow still had time to become an expert in furniture projects, hanging outdoors, and keeping up with her crew of fur babies!

Fun fact… she also did taxidermy for a few years AND has worked for a funeral home for nearly 11 years, which means awkward situations probably won't phase her much.

When asked why she became an officer, her answer was simple:
To help people and show the younger generation that law enforcement officers truly care about them and their communities.

Also, if you see a suspicious amount of Starbucks cups around the PD… blame her caramel ribbon crunch frappuccino addiction!

Welcome to Sunrise Beach, Officer Gregory!

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to “Let’s Get Loud” at Franky & Louie’s and let us show off the Sunrise Beach Police bass build. From demos to lane runs, today was an absolute blast.
