MADD SATURATION SATURDAY

If you drove past the Lake of the Ozarks Board of REALTORS building last night and wondered why there were a LOT of patrol cars from agencies all across the Lake, nothing bad happened.

That was what prevention looked like.

Last night, we were honored to host MADD Saturation Saturday, bringing officers from across the Lake area together before they returned to their respective communities with one shared mission: find impaired drivers before they had the opportunity to hurt themselves or someone else.

Before everyone hit the road, we shared a great meal generously donated by CG's Mini Mart and Godfather’s Pizza, The Tavern Smokehouse, and Woods Supermarket. Feeding a room full of cops is no small undertaking, and we greatly appreciate these businesses stepping up to support the men and women working last night!

A very special thank you to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, MADD Heartland for asking the Sunrise Beach Police Department to host this meaningful event, to every agency that participated, and the Lake of the Ozarks Board of REALTORS(R) for providing the space.

Here at home an additional three Sunrise Beach patrol vehicles worked throughout the night, providing additional coverage during one of the busiest weekends of the summer.

Every 44 minutes, someone in America is killed in an alcohol-impaired-driving crash.

We challenged every officer in that room to make those next 44 minutes count.

Find the driver before the crash, prevent the phone call, be the reason someone makes it home, and maybe, just maybe, be the one who saves a family from spending the rest of their lives asking, “What if?”

Thank you to everyone who worked last night to make our roads safer. ❤️🚔

OPERATION: PD DOORDASH (HDE EDITION): MISSION COMPLETE.

We said we wanted to finish the week strong and apparently, our sponsors heard “deploy the entire fleet”!

Seriously, that’s no exaggeration, IT TOOK THREE POLICE CARS TO DELIVER LUNCH TODAY!!!

Chic's n Dix HonkyTonk & Saloon provided basically every flavor of pizza known to mankind, along with two types of wings and salad.

Subway followed that up with ALL. OF. THE. COOKIES. Not some cookies. Not a reasonable quantity of cookies. ALL OF THEM. And because they apparently understand the fragile emotional state of our department mascot, they even provided a special cookie tray specifically for Sgt. Coonio.

We are currently drawing straws to see who has to tell him that “tray” and “single serving” are different units of measurement.

And finally, the literal cherry on top…

Bear Bottom Resort provided an ENTIRE ICE CREAM SUNDAE BAR! Ice cream, chocolate, caramel, strawberry sauce, bananas, Reese’s Pieces, M&M’s, sprinkles, marshmallows, cherries, crushed waffle cones and Oreos… the whole nine yards.

At one point we stopped delivering lunch and started wondering whether or not we needed a commercial driver’s license and a manifest.

Four days ago, this started because one teacher mentioned how absolutely chaotic the first week of school can be. Somehow, our community turned that little conversation into four straight days of making sure the teachers and staff at Hurricane Deck Elementary knew how much they are appreciated.

And THAT is pretty freaking cool!

To every business and person who jumped in this week, THANK YOU! You fed them, spoiled them, made them laugh, and reminded the people who spend their days taking care of our kids that their community is taking care of them, too.

Final mission status:

Teachers: FED.
Morale: BOOSTED.
Ice cream: DEPLOYED.
Sgt. Coonio’s cookie intake: CLASSIFIED. 🦝🍪

OPERATION PD DOORDASH (HDE EDITION): MISSION COMPLETE.

P.S. If you see Sgt. Coonio this weekend… mind your business. Subway gave him his own cookie tray, and he has neither the maturity nor the self-control to handle this kind of responsibility.

OPERATION: PD DOORDASH, DAY 3

Okay… our local businesses are officially SHOWING OFF now!

Three days in, and it’s apparent that nobody in this community does things halfway. Today’s lunch at Hurricane Deck Elementary turned into an all-out feast:

🍔 Westside Pub came through with burgers, macaroni salad and slaw.

🍗 Town & Country provided some of the freshest chicken tenders imaginable. Seriously, these things practically went from the fryer to the school!

🍪 And because apparently feeding the teachers wasn’t enough, Dave with Rustic Edge Renovations showed up with a HUGE haul of individually packaged snacks for the classrooms and kiddos!

What started as one teacher casually mentioning, “Hey, the first week of school is crazy and sometimes we don’t even have time to pack lunch,” has turned into this.

Three days. A bunch of phone calls. And local businesses basically responding with:

“Say less. We got the teachers.” ❤️🍎

A huge thank you to Westside Pub, Town & Country Supermarket, and Dave at Rustic Edge Renovations LLC for absolutely knocking Day 3 out of the park.

At this point, OPERATION: PD DOORDASH may be the most successful operation we’ve ever conducted.

No arrests.
No citations.
Just an absolutely unreasonable amount of food!

Now, if only we could convince Sgt. Coonio that he’s not a substitute teacher. We’re starting to think he’s only here for the free lunch.

ONE LAST THING… We’re looking for one or two more sponsors willing to help us wrap this thing up tomorrow in a very “sweet” way. We’re not spilling the details yet, but let’s just say Sgt. Coonio has already requested sprinkles. If you want in, send us a message or give Chief a call!

OPERATION: PD DOORDASH - DAY 2 🍕🚨

Day 2 is officially in the books, and apparently our strategy of fighting first-week-of-school chaos with excessive amounts of food is working. 😂

Today’s heroes are our friends at The Branding Iron Bar & Grill, who stepped up and provided some AMAZING pizza for the teachers and staff at Hurricane Deck Elementary!

We’re only two days into this thing, and I’m already reminded why I love this community so much. I made a few phone calls with a simple idea from one of our teachers, let’s feed our teachers during one of the craziest weeks of their year, and local businesses immediately started saying, “BET!”

A HUGE thank you to The Branding Iron for sponsoring Day 2 and helping us take care of the people who spend every day taking care of our kids. ❤️

As for Sgt. Coonio… his substitute teaching career remains under review.

Apparently eating three slices of pizza in the teachers’ lounge counts as “shift prep.” 🦝🍕😂

OPERATION: PD DOORDASH continues tomorrow! 🚔➡️🍎

A couple weeks ago, I was talking with one of the teachers at our Hurricane Deck Elementary when she mentioned how crazy the first week of school is for teachers.

Apparently, the first week of school is what professionals would call a “complete and total circus”. And considering our lake community just survived the Gathering… we feel obligated to help reduce any other circus driven heartache or strain on our systems. 🤡😂

What really got to me is that she mentioned things get so hectic that some teachers don’t even have time to pack a lunch, and how cool it would be if someone provided meals for them that first week.

I immediately started making phone calls, and within MINUTES, local businesses were jumping at the chance to help take care of the people who spend every day taking care of our kids.

As a direct result of that conversation we have officially started “OPERATION: PD DOORDASH”!

All of this week, the Sunrise Beach Police Department is collaborating with local businesses to cater lunches for our hard-working teachers! Today we are kicking things off with:

🌮 Chicken & steak fajitas
🍚 Rice and all the fixings
🌶️ Chips & salsa
🧀 And CHEESE DIP, because margaritas during school hours are frowned upon. 😂

A HUGE thank you to Don Chilillo's Mexican Restaurant and Poly Lift Boat Lifts for sponsoring today’s feast!

Now if only we could get Sgt. Coonio to stop claiming to be a substitute teacher and back to work! I’m not even sure what he would teach, but he keeps insisting that Lunch be a core subject.

In all seriousness, our amazing teachers spend all year taking care of our kids. This week, we’re going to help take care of you. ❤️🍎

🎸 TODAY’S THE DAY! 🎸

Parmalee takes the stage today at Captain Ron’s, and your Sunrise Beach Police Department is ALL HANDS ON DECK to help make sure everyone has a fun, and safe, time!

We’ve got the full crew working, plus a few extra tricks up our sleeves:

Traffic warning signs are in place for southbound traffic at Hwy 5 & Tree Road.

We’re also using our HAAS Alert systems to warn drivers using navigation apps about potential traffic hazards ahead. So if your GPS suddenly tells you there are emergency vehicles nearby… for once, your phone isn’t just being dramatic.

If you’re traveling through the area today:

👉 Slow down.
👉 Be patient. There are going to be a LOT of people moving around.
👉 Watch for officers and event traffic.
👉 And if you see one of our people out working, feel free to say hello or give us a wave. 👋

Preferably with all five fingers. 😂

Whether you’re headed to the concert or just trying to make it through Sunrise Beach, please be safe, look out for each other, and have a GREAT weekend!

And, of course…

PARTY ON, Sunrise Beach! 🤘🎸

UPDATE: All of the puppies now gave homes! Thank you yo everyone for sharing!!!!

Okay, Sunrise Beach… we have a very serious situation.

There are three puppies left who still need homes, and frankly, they have absolutely no business being this cute.

Nine of these little nuggets were found abandoned on the steps of a local church. Thankfully, six have already found their families! Now we just need to find the perfect people for these last three.

We’ve reviewed the photos carefully and can confirm the following:

They have big bellies.
They have tiny feet.
They have floppy ears.
And at least one of them appears to have mastered the “I have never done anything wrong in my entire life” face.

We do not believe him. 😂

Their qualifications include professional napping, expert snuggling, eating approximately 47 times a day, and following you into the bathroom for absolutely no reason.

Salary requirements: snacks.

Benefits package: your entire couch.

Please give us a call for more information if you’re interested in giving one of these babies a forever home!

And PLEASE share this post.

We need to get these puppies adopted before somebody at the PD says, “You know… we DO have that new building…” 😂🐾❤️

This week, I had the privilege of attending the LETSAC (Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council) Conference, where we dove into highway safety, leadership, and some super serious cop stuff.

However, one thing that sets this conference apart from others is the patrol car show! This competition gives departments the opportunity to show off their equipment to other officers, as well a their families. This year the competition was extremely formidable with having 17 competitors, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s shiny new Mustang GT! With that said the somewhat, kinda sorta, not really all that humble Sunrise Beach PD showed up and took 1st Place! I know it sounds ridiculous, but these events get folks talking, laughing, and who knows, maybe even thinking, “Hey, I could join that department!”

I would also like to congratulate Camden County Deputy Lackey for his award for making 114 intoxicated driver arrests last year!

We laughed, we learned, and yes, we’re bringing that trophy back to Sunrise Beach! 🏆
