🚔🏆 OFFICER OF THE MONTH – JULY 2026 🏆🚔

Please join us in congratulating Officer R. Howe, who has been recognized as the Sunrise Police Department’s Officer of the Month for July 2026! 👏💙

Since January 1, 2026, Officer Howe has made several arrests for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Through her vigilance, initiative, and proactive enforcement, she has helped remove impaired drivers from our roadways and reduce the risk of serious crashes, injuries, and fatalities in our community.

Officer Howe’s impact extends beyond enforcement. She has also taken an active role in mentoring newer officers during DUI investigations, sharing her knowledge and experience to help strengthen their skills and confidence. Her dedication has made her a valuable resource for her fellow officers and contributed to our department’s continued efforts to keep Sunrise roadways safe.

Officer Howe’s professionalism, leadership, and commitment to public safety reflect great credit upon herself and the Sunrise Police Department.

This month, the Sunrise Police Department joins communities across the country in raising awareness, encouraging meaningful conversations, and reminding everyone that help is available.

Su***de prevention starts with connection. Checking in on a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbor can make a difference. Take the time to listen, offer support, and remind those around you that they do not have to face a difficult moment alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling or experiencing a crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Trained crisis counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide confidential support.

Throughout National Su***de Prevention Month, we encourage our Sunrise community to help spread awareness, share resources, and look out for one another.

🎉🚔 Congratulations on 25 Years of Service, Officer Jerald Davis! 💙

After an incredible 25-year career, Officer Jerald Davis is retiring from the Sunrise Police Department.

Officer Davis graduated from Police Academy Class 206 and was officially sworn in as a Sunrise Police Officer on December 17, 2001. Since then, he has built a career defined by professionalism, leadership, courage, and an unwavering commitment to serving our community.

Throughout his career, Officer Davis served in several important roles, including Road Patrol, the SWAT Team, and a Field Training Officer, where he helped train and mentor the next generation of Sunrise Police officers.

His distinguished career includes numerous awards and recognitions, including:

🏆 Officer of the Year
👏 Officer of the Month — 3x
❤️ Life Saving Award — 3x
🎖️ Good Conduct Award — 3x
⭐ Outstanding Unit Award — 2x

🚨 School Threats Are Never a Joke 🚨

The Sunrise Police Department wants to remind our students, parents, and community that any threat involving a school is taken seriously.

Whether made in person, through a text message, or on social media, threats can create fear, disrupt our schools, and lead to serious consequences — even when someone claims they were “just joking.”

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents and guardians: Please talk with your children about responsible communication and remind them to think carefully before they post, send, or share something online.

👀 If you see or hear something concerning, report it. Never assume someone else will.

Keeping our schools safe is a shared responsibility. Together, we can protect our students, educators, and school community. 💙🏫

The Sunrise Police Department invites our community, law enforcement family, friends, and loved ones to join us as we honor and remember the life, service, and legacy of Officer Roshanda Leigh McWilliams.

Attendees should enter through the North Entrance of the arena.

Officer McWilliams’ marked patrol vehicle will be placed in front of the North Entrance doors as a memorial in her honor. Those attending are welcome to bring flowers or stuffed animals to place on and around her vehicle as a personal tribute and expression of remembrance. 💐🧸💙

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming love, support, prayers, messages, and condolences that have been extended to Officer McWilliams’ family and our Sunrise Police Department family during this difficult time.

Thank you for standing beside us as we come together to celebrate her life, honor her service, and remember the impact she made on so many.
