Best friends Jack and Beckett participated in the “Emerging Creators” market in La Pine recently, and they decided to donate 100% of their proceeds to SNCO to support local wildlife! Their booth: “Jumping Jack’s Garden For Good,” featured plants, seeds, hand-made buttons, magnets, and 3D printed garden items. What a heartwarming example of generosity and intentional stewardship of our planet from such young citizens! Thank you Jack and Beckett 💙🌏💚

Happy Amphibian Week from SNCO!!
From tiny tree frogs to giant salamanders, amphibians are some of the planet’s most fascinating animals. These cold-blooded creatures begin life in water and often transition to land as they grow, making them important indicators of ecosystem health. Protecting amphibians helps protect wetlands, forests, and the balance of nature itself.
Come to Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory to meet some cool amphibians!

Yellow Rail fever has officially reached Central Oregon ✨️ 🪶 We've loved seeing birders travel from all over the country in hopes of hearing (or spotting!) this elusive little marsh bird for their life lists.

As exciting as the chase is, we have one important request: please leave the playback devices (bird call sounds) at home.

Broadcasting artificial Yellow Rail calls can confuse and cause stress for birds by making them think a rival is in their territory, and it can disrupt other wildlife in the area too. The marsh is already full of real bird drama, we don't need to add artificial plot twists. 😉

Part of the magic of birding is patience, luck, and those unforgettable moments when nature reveals itself on its own terms. Thanks for helping us keep this habitat peaceful and wild for everyone, especially the rails.

Good luck out there birders! May your life lists grow naturally 💛
