Beginning today, pets are prohibited on the beach strand between the hours of 9:00am and 6:00pm.

We would also like to remind everyone of the following ordinance amendment that was passed on May 4, 2026. The ordinance amendment defines acceptable types of leashes and prohibits the use of invisible or electronic leashes. The amendment also clarifies that pets must remain leashed and under control of a responsible person, both on the beach and in the Atlantic Ocean.

Today, Animal Control Officer Arp was dispatched to Chandlers Lane after receiving a call that a baby squirrel had fallen from a tree.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to reunite the baby squirrel with its mother, Officer Arp contacted wildlife rehabilitator Misty Rogers. Misty will now care for the baby squirrel and ensure its safety until it is ready to return to the wild.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping protect our local wildlife!

As National Police Week has come to a close, we wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make last week so special for our officers and staff.

From the lunches, dinners, snacks, desserts, drinks, and thoughtful treats delivered throughout the week, the kindness and support shown by our community was truly overwhelming.

Even today, Patty & Rocco Lofaro surprised our day shift with a wonderful lunch delivery. We would also like to thank Michelle and Sean Arnold for fresh donuts last week, and Sea Trail Golf Resort finishing the week with both lunch and dinner. Gestures like these meant more than words can express.

One of the best parts of the week was watching the excitement from our officers each day as they heard what delicious meal or surprise was coming next. Your generosity, encouragement, and support reminded them just how appreciated they are.

To every business, family, organization, and community member who donated food, treats, gift cards, or simply took the time to thank an officer, thank you. We are incredibly grateful to serve such a caring and supportive community. 💙
