Keep an eye out for common confidence scams particularly romance scams around Valentine's Day. The Austin area is a prime target for romance scammers who prey on victims' emotional vulnerability which can lead to heavy financial losses to victims. Here are a few love scams to look out for:

2. Love bombers- Beware of those who constantly and/or immediately shower you with affection.
3. Money request-Be wary of someone asking for money even if they claim that they will pay you back.
4. Investment scams-Steer clear of someone that you recently met pressuring you to invest your money.
5. Sextortion/Blackmail- Don't be coerced into sending compromising photos or texts to someone online.
6. Moving off platform-Be wary of someone who quickly wants to move off the dating site to a more private social media platform.
