Sunset City is located about 25 miles from Salt Lake City in northern Davis County. The city encompasses an area of 1.9 miles by .6 miles and has a population of 5,200 residents. Sunset City was incorporated in 1935. Geographically, the city is located between the Wasatch Mountains on the east-side and by the Great Salt Lake on the west-side. The city borders Hill Air Force Base, Clinton, Clearfie

ld and Roy. The Sunset City Fire and Rescue began in 1956 as a volunteer fire fighting crew. In 1995, we added rescue as a component of the volunteer duties. Today, 90% of the calls are related to Emergency Medical Services (EMS). We provide primary fire protection to both urban and suburban areas as well as covering several miles of I-15. The department has 50 volunteers operating 2 fire suppression devices, 1 squad, 2 ambulances, 1 brush truck and a hazmat-rehab trailer. On average, the volunteers respond to about 500 calls per year. Sunset Fire Department is very proud of our agency and history. As a volunteer department our motto is: “Pride is our Pay.”

Never Forget

06/30/2017

It’s a sad and emotional day for the men and woman of the Sunset City Fire department in Sunset, Utah. The legacy and service of the Sunset City department will be ending tonight at midnight, as our city leaders have annexed the department to another city. Our benefits and making sure our citizens and community were always taken care of, was our driving force since 1956. The families and retirees of the department will continue to grow within all of us for many years to come. I am blessed to have served the citizens of Sunset and the brothers and sisters I have had the opportunity to work with and call family will stay with me forever.

God Bless
