Did you know?! 🤔

You cannot drain your pool water into a storm drain, ditch, or road if it is chlorinated. 🌊 In fact, even if it's just water, you need to drain it onto your lawn! 😁

⭐ If your pool is not chlorinated, or if you have dechlorinated your pool, it can be drained onto your lawn to infiltrate into the soil. 👍🙌

This water has been through the 6 steps of wastewater treatment. 💩 Now, it's flowing to the Ultraviolet Light Disinfection building, where it will be disinfected before flowing into the St. Louis River Estuary and Lake Superior. 🙌🤩

Have you ever heard of illicit discharge?🤷🏼🤔

➡️ An illicit discharge is anything in the gutter and road on its way to a storm drain or already in the sewer that is NOT stormwater.

‼️If you see something that is not stormwater entering a storm drain in your neighborhood, call the City of Superior Environmental Services Division @ 715.394.0392‼️

Storm drains are only intended to collect and transport the water from rain or snow events to nearby lakes, rivers, and streams. 🌊If it’s in the street, it’s in our streams. 😱

The solar panels are installed at the City of Superior Environmental Services Division! What a great addition to the already established sustainable energy practices!

Today, the Aeration Tanks are getting cleaned, which happens every 3 years. Specifically, the blowers at the bottom of the tanks need to be cleaned because they are dirty from the wastewater. The blowers blow air into the tanks to support the lives of the aerobic microorganisms who help treat the wastewater. Pretty cool!
