On behalf of the Sheriff of Mineral County and his staff, Welcome to the “New” official page for The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office. We are located at 310 River Street in Beautiful Superior Montana and are responsible for providing service to the counties 1,223 square miles. The office includes sworn and non-sworn Public Safety Officers: The Sheriff, UnderSheriff, Sergeant, Deputy Sheriffs, Reser

ve Deputies, Deputy Coroners, Detention Officers, Communications Officers, and Auxiliary Officers. The Sheriff and Coroner is a combined office in Mineral County, as it is in most of Montana. The combined office serves the county residents and its visitors by providing the services of law enforcement, criminal investigation, county detention center administration, district court bailiff, civil processes, and human death inquiries/investigations. The Sheriff’s Office is also responsible for the county emergency services communications center (911 for Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS), and the Mineral County Search & Rescue. UPDATE: The fire is under control and contained. Residents who left their homes can now return.

Emergency personnel are working on a wildfire near Crystal Springs approximately MM 64 eastbound I-90. The Sheriff’s Office is currently notifying and evacuating residents in the immediate area. Strong winds are pushing the fire quickly. We will update as new information becomes available.

The Lady Cats are STATE B/C TENNIS TEAM CHAMPIONS! 🎾🏆

Join us in celebrating this incredible accomplishment as the team is es**rted home this afternoon.

The es**rt will begin at Lozeau, travel into town, cross the bridge, make a loop through town, and then head back to the school. They are expected to arrive around 5:00 PM.

Come out, line the streets, and help us give these athletes the welcome home they deserve for bringing home a state championship!

Congratulations to our very own Sgt. Micah Allard for earning the “Top Gun” Award during his fi****ms training this week.

The training was hosted by Tap-Rack Tactical, founded and led by Bill Blowers. The organization is highly respected within the fi****ms and law enforcement community for its elite tactical instruction, real-world application, and emphasis on stress-induced problem solving and decision making.

This recognition reflects Sgt. Allard’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to continually improving his skills to better serve and protect our community. Great work, Micah!

Update: Fire is 100% contained.

There is an active fire burning near the Mineral/Sanders County line. The fire is estimated to be approximately 1/4 acre in size.

We have been in contact with the United States Forest Service and they have a crew hiking in. Also expect helicopter traffic in the area. We will keep you up to date when we know more information.

On May 15, 2026, with assistance from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, Ted Kenneth Hurley was located and arrested without incident in Mineral County. Hurley had outstanding warrants totaling $225,000.

This is another strong example of the teamwork and coordination between our counties to help keep our communities safe. Great work by all agencies involved.
