On October 10, 2026 at approximately 0218, Superior Police responded to a vehicle accident in which a large SUV crashed into the front of the house in the 700 block of Brown St. Fortunately there were no injuries to anyone involved. The front of the house suffered severe structural damage.

The Superior Police Department would like to acknowledge and thank resident Jesse Baltierra for his assistance in securing the property. The Officer on duty called Jesse at 0300 hours asking for help and without hesitation Jesse responded to the scene, and using his own tools and supplies helped to secure the front of the house until a repair crew is contacted.

Thank you Jesse! You truly embrace what it is to be a pillar of the community!

UPDATE:
This evening, PCSO Search and Rescue, Superior Fire, Queen Valley Fire and BORSTAR crews reached the wreckage on foot alongside FAA investigators and confirmed four fatalities as a result of the crash. Next of kin notifications have been made to the families.
Preliminary evidence indicates a recreational slackline more than one kilometer long had been strung across the mountain range. An eyewitness who called 911 reported seeing the helicopter strike a portion of the line before falling to the bottom of the canyon.
The decedents include a 59-year-old man from Queen Creek, who was piloting the helicopter, and three female family members, ages 22, 21 and 21.
Our prayers are with the victims and their families.
The investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
