FYI for Saturday morning if you are traveling through Estherville. Superior will be assisting them with this controlled burn with several trucks.

The Estherville Fire Department, with assistance from area fire departments, will be conducting a training fire involving the former Golden Sun Elevator located at 303 Central Avenue in Estherville. This exercise scheduled for 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, is contingent upon favorable weather conditions.

Highway 9 (Central Avenue) will be closed to through traffic from 1st Street to 9th Street and completely closed from 2nd Street to 4th Street for the duration of the fire. Traffic detours for Highway 9 around the target area will be well marked.

We would appreciate the cooperation of the public in keeping a safe distance from the barricaded area for the protection of the public and all public safety personnel at the scene. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

With this less than desirable weather we had this weekend. We would like to remind everyone to check and clean out their furnace vents and gas meters. These pictures were taken today in our fire district. So this is happening locally.

Due to the Blizzard warning for our area Sunday the Superior Fire Dept will be canceling our pancake breakfast for Sunday. We thank everyone for the past support! We hope to try and reschedule but at this time we don’t have a date. We will be discussing this in the near future. We really don’t want to infringe on other departments and their fundraisers. So that makes finding a date difficult. We will try our best. So everyone stay inside where it’s warm and safe on Sunday and please don’t travel!

During these winter storms we are having this year we are strongly urging people SLOW down use your head lights. And give the emergency responders the room to work! They have families and want to reassure they make it home to them! Snow plow operators are also in the same class as emergency responders! Give them room. And take your time. Thank you! And take our time on the roads.
