Facebook Posting/Commenting Guidelines
The purpose of the Town of Surf City's page is to disseminate information that is always easily accessible; to answer your questions; and to market our programs, services and overall benefits. This page serves as a form of communication; therefore, any communications posted on this page, including your comments, are subject to public disclosure and
may be subject to the North Carolina Public Records law. If these are not followed, we reserve the right to delete or hide the associated comments or post:
1. Private business use prohibited
a) This site may not be used to conduct private commercial transactions or to engage in private business activities. b) Solicitation and/or endorsement of commercial products or commerce, services or entities
3. It is prohibited to engage in the following on the Town of Surf City’s page:
a) Spam, continuously postings with the same information; continuous personal debates that belong on personal Facebook accounts and/or conduct or encouragement of illegal activity; or post “hijacking”
b) Profane or vulgar content and language, obscenities
c) Activities from groups that could be construed as offensive
d) Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation; or any content that perpetuates any type of discrimination
e) Sexual content or links to sexual content
f) Content that contains threats or violent action, and/or bullying behavior
g) Derogatory comments or post directed towards one another, the public; and or Town employees or officials
The Town of Surf City also reserves the right to remove any content that are not topically related to the particular posting or blog, content posted by anonymous posters or those using a fake moniker, infringements on copyrights or trademarks, false information, threatening and/or defaming language. Comments are reviewed and can be deleted if an administrator deems the comment(s) questionable. Those who violate these guidelines may be subject to being blocked permanently from posting to the site, and the associated comments will be deleted. By virtue of providing content to this site, you agree that you have no expectation of privacy in the information provided. The Town is not responsible for and does not endorse any links embedded in comments posted to this site by third parties. While we do our best to monitor our social media accounts daily, this site is not monitored 24/7.
