I’m extremely excited to announce this!
When I was contacted about donating life jackets to Surfside Beach, my first thought was simple — how many lives could potentially be saved because of this program.
As Chief of Police, one of my top priorities is making our beach as safe as possible for residents and visitors alike. These life jackets will provide an extra layer of safety for families enjoying the water and help prevent tragedies before they happen.
Please take a moment to look at the attached flyer and consider supporting this effort. Every donation helps us put more life jackets into the hands of people who need them.
Stay tuned for updates on when the first shipment of life jackets arrives. We may even launch a fun program to reward beachgoers we spot wearing their life jackets in the water!

Everyone is gearing up for a fantastic time on the sand! We absolutely love seeing families out here making memories and enjoying the coast.

To keep that experience safe and beautiful for every single visitor, we are asking for your partnership on two important village rules.

First, it feels natural to look at the open beach and think it’s the perfect spot for a private fireworks show. But to protect our crowds, wildlife, and nearby homes, fireworks are strictly prohibited anywhere on the beach or within village limits (Sec. 28-62-(2)d). How can we ensure the safety of families and pets if the beach were to become a Fireworks launch zone? Let's leave the pyrotechnics to the professionals.

Second, we know exactly how much effort goes into setting up the ultimate beach spot with your tents and chairs. But when you head away, please take your gear with you. Leaving personal property unattended, especially, overnight is prohibited and legally considered a nuisance (Sec. 16-89). How can our maintenance crews clean the beach—or emergency vehicles navigate in the dark—if the beach is covered in abandoned gear?

We want nothing more than for you to have an incredible visit. Packing out your belongings and leaving the fireworks at home guarantees the beach is pristine, safe, and ready for you again tomorrow morning.
