We're proud to be part of the solution to data center (and other blight) intrusion into rural Virginia. And... if these industries want to inhabit and transform our gorgeous, rural landscapes, at the very least they can pay for the privilege.

A Surry County citizens group has joined other organizations in urging Gov. Abigail Spanberger to support ending Virginia's data center sales tax break.

Keep Surry Rural- formerly Surry Sprouts has signed on to the attached letter opposing the statewide data center sales and use tax exemption.

The Southwest Virginia Data Center Transparency Alliance, based in Roanoke, penned an open letter to Governor Spanberger urging her to support the Senate's budget proposal to end the data center sales and use tax exemption. SVDCTA reached out to Keep Surry Rural- formerly Surry Sprouts in part to show the widespread opposition to keeping the tax exemption. We're honored to sign on to push back against the tremendous power of the data center lobby.
