Yesterday, we had the honor of gathering as an organization alongside staff from Banner Lassen Medical Center, the Susanville Fire Department, EMS managers from Sierra Regional EMS and Northern California EMS, Inc. as SEMSA Paramedic Rex Neilson was presented with the 2026 NorCal Exemplary Performance Award. Rex was nominated for this achievement by staff from Banner Lassen Medical Center.

The NorCal Exemplary Performance Award is an annual honor presented by Northern California EMS, Inc. to recognize outstanding pre-hospital healthcare and emergency medical service professionals who go above and beyond in their communities.

Throughout his career at SEMSA, Rex has served as a Paramedic, Critical Care Flight Paramedic, and Operations Supervisor. He carries out his duties each day with a smile on his face, a calm voice in the storm, and a commitment to clinical excellence and precision with every patient he encounters.

We are grateful to have Rex as part of the SEMSA family and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.

Today, we join the EMS and HEMS community in mourning the tragic loss involving the crew members of Trans Aero Medevac. Our hearts are with their families, friends, coworkers, and all those impacted by this devastating event.

As of 12/31/2025 at noon, Riggs dispatch will no longer be an answering point for SEMSA. Requests made via 24/7 dispatch, and calls for IFT's and other ambulance requests will now be processed by AMR dispatch in Modesto, CA. Please update your records and contact information for SEMSA Dispatch to reflect the phone number 1-800-913-9113.

The business line 775-737-4200 that is answered Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, will remain unchanged.
