Update: After seeing the correction to the Sheriff's department bulletin, we would like to thank you for making the corrections and clarifying that LCSAR was not involved in the search.

Original: We would like to inform the community that the bulletin posted by the Lassen county sheriff's office is incorrect. The Lassen County Search and Rescue team (LCSAR) was not called out for this search by the Sheriff's department. In April of 2016, the Sheriff of Lassen County informed our team that they would no longer, after 40 years, be calling or using our volunteer services for any Search or Rescue function within Lassen County. However, the Lassen County Search and Rescue team (LCSAR) still retains the only rights to this team name, not the sheriff's department's search and rescue team. Our team, although no longer used by this county, are thankful and glad that the person was located with the assistance of the other Search and Rescue teams that were called in from other counties. If the Sheriff would like to discuss the use of our team name without our approval or our services, please contact our team, otherwise, please stop using our teams name. Thank you.

Respectfully,
Robert Trussell, Commander
Lassen County Search and Rescue team.

I want to recognize and thank all the members, past and present, of the Lassen County Search and Rescue Team. Your time and dedication to the people of our community has gone without enough recognition since the beginning of the team over 41 years ago. You have helped save many lives and reunited families with loved ones. You have gave up countless hours of your time, away from your family and work life, anytime you are called upon, whether its day or night, a weekend or holiday, rain or shine, and for several days at a time, to be there for someone you don’t even know. It’s your devotion to ensure “That others may live” that makes their lives better by knowing you are there for them. During all of the calls for missing children, lost hunters, swimmers, hikers and even stranded law enforcement officers, you have never said “no” and have done your job without question. You have dedicated your time to make community events safe for families to attend such as the Lassen County Fair. You have saved Lassen County millions of dollars by volunteering all of your time and services and paying for equipment from your own pocket when there has not been enough money for the team to pay for it. So now, I want to say “THANK YOU” for everything you have done and hope that the people of Lassen County will never have to be without you.

Today LCSAR had medical training. It's always better when you make all your victims look the part. The kids all had fun being trauma patients and playing the part. Good job to everyone. Thank you to the Standish fire dept for having us. Thank you Jen (our instructor), you are an amazing teacher.

Today our SAR team mourned the loss of a valued team member. Joey Keller was a true dedicated member to not only SAR but to several fire departments in our community. Joey always had a positive attitude and giving heart. He showed so much dedication and gave 100% of himself to help. It didn't matter what time of day or what was going on in his life, he would always be there to go on a mission or activity. Joey, you are truly missed and we will forever remember all you did, not only for SAR but to all agencies he helped and volunteered too. We will miss your smile, laughter, devotion and integrity. We are thankful for you being a part of our SAR family. As we said our goodbyes today we know it is not forever. We will see you again. Until we meet again, please watch over us all here on earth and protect us.
R - 42 Joey Keller Rest in Peace
We love you and miss you
