We've received some feedback on our outage text alert system. Here is a quick overview of how the system works.

1) We use a third party called Trumpia to send out the alerts. To enroll in the system, you must text the letters LMUD to this number: 877-754-7697. If you have successfully enrolled, you will receive an automated message that reads, "LMUD: Welcome! Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to optout 5302574174" With a second message that reads, "LMUD: Thank you for signing up for automated outage information. Please do not reply to this message. To unsubscribe, reply STOP"

2) If you do not get this message, you are likely already enrolled, or your carrier has blocked the messages, thinking they are spam. 877-754-7697 is not unique to LMUD. This number is used by other entities. You may have received an unwanted text from one of these entities and blocked the number.

3) If you reply to the text alert messages, you will not get a reply. Please do not report outages or ask for updates via text reply. We welcome your comments on Facebook or by phone. You can also email [email protected], and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

4) Report outages ONLY through our SmartHub app, or by calling our 24/7 customer service number, 530-257-4174.

Finally, if you need assistance enrolling in the outage text alerts, please call us during business hours, 8:30am to 4:30pm. We'll be happy to help. We can also search our database to see if you are enrolled, but we cannot manually enroll your number.

9:15PM - Power has been restored to the LMUD system. If you are still without power, please call us at 530-257-4174. Our customer service line is manned around the clock. Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding.

8:48PM - PG&E has identified the issue with their 230kV line that feeds our system as well as the surrounding utilities. They believe they have resolved the issue and have begun the process of restoring power. This could take up to two hours. Load must be brought back slowly as not to overload the line. We will update this post as soon as we have more information, or when power is fully restored. We understand that power outages are inconvenient and can cause frustration, especially when it is an issue out of our control. We sincerely thank the community for your patience, understanding and support.

5/26/26: 8:00PM - Due to a fault in the PG&E transmission line, LMUD is experiencing a system-wide outage. The outage is wide-spread, affecting other utilities in our region. We will update this post as soon as more information becomes available. To receive outage text alerts, please visit our website, www.lmud.org and click on the Outage Center for enrollment instructions. You can also view a map of all active outages.
