⚾The Fields at Village Park: An Update

Work is continuing to move forward on The Fields at Village Park, the next phase of the Village Park Master Plan.

The five-field baseball and softball complex is planned for approximately 18 acres the Village acquired in late 2025. The project will include a main stadium field with seating, four additional fields, batting cages, dugouts and a full-service concessions facility with restrooms and storage.

With the project moving toward construction, the contractor selection process is anticipated to take place in early 2027, with the bulk of construction expected to begin in spring 2027.

As part of the initial site preparation, some clearing and grubbing on the property is expected to begin as early as Tuesday, September 8. The project design will determine which trees need to be removed, with an effort to preserve established, mature trees wherever possible and maintain the tree lines along the property's north and east sides.

We'll continue to share updates as The Fields moves through the next stages of the project.

🚛POV: Brush collection is 4 days away.

Our trucks are getting ready—and our crews are, too.💪

Behind Tuesday’s brush collection is a lot of preparation from the Public Works Streets team, who will be out working hard to make their way through the Village.

Now it’s your turn: get your brush to the curb by 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.🌳

A few reminders:
• Brush should be 8 inches or less in diameter and 8 feet or less in length
• Place it close to the street with cut ends facing the curb
• No leaves, grass clippings or root balls
• Crews will make one pass through the Village

Thanks to our Public Works crews for taking care of business—and thanks to residents for helping make collection go smoothly!🚛

🌳Reminder: Brush Collection starts Tuesday, September 8!

If you have branches and brush from recent storms, trimming or other yard work, now's the time to get it to the curb.

Here’s what residents need to know:

🕖 Have brush out by 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.
🚛 Village crews will make ONE pass through the Village, so anything placed out after crews have passed will not be collected.
🌿 Brush includes twigs and branches from trees and bushes.
📏 Branches must be 8 inches or less in diameter and 8 feet or less in length.
🚫 No root balls, leaves or grass clippings.
➡️ Place your pile close to the street with cut ends facing the curb.

Crews will begin in areas that saw the most storm damage—including Canyon Meadows, Maple Avenue and Clover Drive—before continuing throughout the Village.

Have questions or need another option? Residents can also use the Village Yard Waste Site for eligible yard waste.

💚A special day for Sussex.

On Monday, we celebrated the opening of the Village’s new Parks Maintenance Facility and honored longtime Village employee Gabe Kolesari with the dedication of Kolesari Way.

After 29 years with the Village, Gabe’s passion for our parks and his commitment to Sussex have left a lasting mark on our community. It was especially meaningful to have Gabe there for the reveal—and to see him celebrate the moment with loved ones, staff and community members.

We’re proud to carry his name forward in Village Park.💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate these two milestones!
