Help shape Amador County’s future mobility
Amador County residents are invited to help shape the future of Amador Transit, the county’s public transit service.
Thanks to a state transportation planning grant, the Amador County Transportation Commission (ACTC) recently embarked on an update of its Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP). The SRTP has two goals. First, to objectively evaluate recent Amador Transit performance. Second, to identify practical, sustainable opportunities for enhancing community mobility. Among the potential strategies being explored are on-demand general public transportation and Saturday service.
Public participation in the SRTP process is a key project objective. As a result, the project will include a variety of participation opportunities, including rider and community surveys and input through Amador Transit’s popular mobility assistance line.
The community survey is now available online at www.AmadorSurvey2025.com. It includes questions regarding Amador Transit, potential future mobility needs and priorities, and a few demographic questions. Estimated completion time is less than five minutes.
Copies of the community survey will also be available at various public buildings throughout the county such as city hall, public libraries, and senior centers. Alternatively, persons unable to access the survey online are invited to call (209) 267-9395 to request assistance in completing the survey.
Currently Amador Transit provides service Monday through Friday via five local bus routes, an express service linking Sutter Hill with downtown Sacramento, and a curb-to-curb Dial-A-Ride service for ADA-certified persons unable to use the traditional bus service.
Founded in 1977, the publicly funded service provides approximately 40,000 rides annually. Free trip planning assistance is available by calling (209) 267-9395.
