Just look at that forecast! ☀️March is coming in perfectly, would you consider that a lion 🦁with the rain ☔️ or a lamb 🐑 because of the temperature?

Either way, we’ll take it! And with warmer temperatures means planting season is right around the corner! 🪻🌻🌷
Don’t forget to get those tree sale orders in to the district before the deadline of March 7! 📆

Feel free to contact our office to see what options still remain! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Attention 🗣️🗣️ West Virginia Century Farm Program Accepting Applications for 2026.

Applications are now open for the 2026 West Virginia Century Farm Program, which recognizes families who have farmed the same land for generations.

The program honors West Virginia farms that have remained in the same family for 100 years or more, celebrating the long-standing role of agriculture in communities across the state.

Farms are recognized in four categories based on years of continuous family ownership and operation:

● Century Farms (100 years)
● Sesquicentennial Farms (150 years)
● Bicentennial Farms (200 years)
● Sestercentennial Farms (250 years)

Applications for the 2026 program are available in PDF format. To access the application and a list of local conservation districts, scan the QR code in the post below or go to https://www.wvca.us/education/pdf/centuryFarmAppl_U1225.pdf.

Applications are due to Elk Conservation District February 1, 2026.

For more information about the West Virginia Century Farm Program, please contact ECD at 304-765-2535 or [email protected]
