Four years ago in the midst of the Covid pandemic, and shortly after my son was born, I threw my hat in the ring to run for Sutton School Committee. I was elected the following May in 2021 when my daughter was entering preschool. My daughter is now finishing her 1st grade year and my son is on the waitlist for preschool as I seek re-election. There is no doubt that this next School Committee term is critical in defining the direction of Sutton Public Schools.
My commitment to serving on this committee is stronger than ever, especially as we look toward the future of the schools in light of recent issues. Before running for this committee a few years ago I looked into the goal and purpose of the school committee in Sutton, I was excited to read that the priority for the school committee is to work toward the best interest of the students. This means that my role is to look for ways to ensure our students receive an education that equips them to be successful, active members of our society. This also means that my commitment is to policies that best align with that objective and not those that distract from this happening as we have seen of late.
When I announced that I would be running for school committee, I told many of you that I looked forward to representing the voice of Sutton families to school administrators. I am proud to say that I have done and will continue to do this.
I am working hard to earn your vote for the upcoming election, held in person on May 28th and by mail-in vote beginning May 14th.
