Santa's Workshop is now open for the holiday season, thanks to the efforts of our Holiday Cheermisters, Town Nurse Cheryl Rawinski, and the Sutton Police Department. This program is designed for seniors who wish to give a gift to a child but may need assistance. It promotes intergenerational connections and community spirit through acts of giving and kindness, enabling seniors with limited resources to provide a special gift to someone they love. This program is FREE!

The day began with Town Nurse Cheryl Rawinski coming to the rescue, generously donating a large quantity of toys for our annual presents for grandkids initiative. We owe a significant debt of gratitude to Sutton PD for their extraordinary kindness. Later, Volunteer Barbara Bessette once again demonstrated her dedication by filling bags for Christmas meals, assisted by Joyce Sardgnola, retired Town Assessor. The day concluded with an outstanding Christmas music performance by Arizona Doug.
You see George Bailey, it is a wonderful life.

Our Director Michelle Edelstein has officially begun her 20th year of snow shoveling, fueled by multiple cups of coffee. Meanwhile, our Outreach Director Tim Annis is once again diligently working to remove snow and ice. We assure you that we're doing our best to ensure your safety from falls. Please be mindful of your footing and promptly notify us of any icy patches you encounter. We will continue to advocate for your safety!

The day started with loads of activity, resulting in a scarcity of parking spaces. Our Director Michelle Edelstein responded by eating Christmas Yule Log cake. Due to the large turnout, the exercise session was constrained, and our friend Ted participated from the kitchen. Chef DJ responded with an outstanding impromptu sausage, peppers, and onions dish that put any ball park food to shame! The day concluded with a resounding success at the bingo session, which drew a packed house.
Thank you to our friends from Vaillancort Folk Art for donating sausage and rolls for our lunch today!

It was a day filled with dining, merriment, singing, movies, and laughter, complemented by delightful company and so much food! Thank you to our new young homeschool friends who joined us for Christmas caroling and participated in a cookie decorating workshop. The day unfolded with pizza, films, cribbage, yoga, and two sessions of line dancing...a testament to our enthusiasm for staying engaged! Needless to say, we will be wearing our stretchy pants!
Thank you to our friend Janice Whittier for suggesting that we watch Chrismas a la Mode which was filmed at Whittier Farm and highlighted various areas in town! That was so cool...

As I reflect on the past few weeks, I am filled with gratitude for the remarkable kindness and generosity that has been on display. It has been inspiring to see strangers come together to support one another, foster a sense of community, and put aside negativity in pursuit of a better tomorrow. This is a testament to the power of peace, compassion, and understanding, and a reminder of the common ground that unites us. Our Senior Center and Food Pantry are shining examples of this spirit, and I am reminded of the words of wisdom shared by my mentor and friend Mike Chizy, for whom the pantry is named, 'better days are coming.' I wish you all peace and extend my heartfelt thanks for your love and support. Michelle Edelstein ♡
