The Leelanau Children’s Choir and Leelanau Youth Ensemble were founded in 1992 and are currently celebrating 20 years of vocal music excellence. Our mission statement, "Changing the Future One Voice at a Time", reflects our goal to train children to sing beautifully according to the highest standards, to integrate musical literacy and performance practice, and to return to the community the gift o
f song through the well-trained voices of our county's youth. We foster the personal and social growth of our members and promote their sense of self-esteem, self-discipline, accomplishment, and pride. The youth that participate in the choirs discover new friendships and build their musical resumes preparing them for future opportunities. Any Leelanau County youth who wishes to sing is eligible to join. Members are chosen by private audition with performances occurring in the winter and spring. The Leelanau Children’s Choir members are 8 years old through 8th grade. Leelanau Youth Ensemble members are in 9th through 12th grade.
