🚨 FY26 Vigilant Guard 🚨
Our Search and Extraction (S&E) element put in serious work this week during Vigilant Guard 26, sharpening skills that are critical when disaster strikes.

From breaching and patient extracation to structural assessment, ropes, shoring, and confined-space operations, the teams executed every scenario with discipline and urgency. This training pushed our Soldiers well outside routine comfort zones and reinforced what matters most, saving lives when every second counts.

Proud of the professionalism, teamwork, and grit our S&E Soldiers displayed throughout the exercise. FY26 is off to a strong start, and this team continues to show why readiness isn’t a slogan - it’s a standard.

Several of our Engineers recently volunteered their time to support the 170th MP BN, with range operations. With only about a week to prepare, they executed a highly successful event.

In just two long and demanding days, our Engineers safely and effectively qualified 141 Soldiers across day, night, and CBRN tables.

We are extremely proud of their hard work, professionalism, and ability to come together on short notice to support the greater mission.

Our buddy “C4RL” also made an appearance to ensure our Engineers stayed motivated at all times!

Our engineers participated in a four-day training event to enhance their search and extraction capabilities.

The Georgia CBRN-TF comprises traditional Army and Air National Guard elements under the command of the 265th Chemical Battalion Commander. Its primary objective is to provide specialized capabilities for managing chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive consequences to local, state, and federal authorities.

The engineers assigned to the Search and Extraction (S&E) element of the Region IV GA CBRN-TF are responsible for performing reconnaissance of the footprint, conducting rope rescues, conducting structural collapse rescues through the use of breach and break / lift and haul teams, conducting confined space rescues, and conducting shoring operations in the collapse zone(s); each team is augmented with two S&E-qualified Airforce Medics. These engineers and Airmen are prepared to swiftly deploy in response to disasters on the home front.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to 1SG Gary Johnson Jr. on his promotion to Command Sergeant Major (CSM). Throughout his tenure with the 810th Engineer Company, 1SG Johnson has demonstrated remarkable growth and expertise.

Initially serving as an infantryman, 1SG Johnson transitioned to combat engineer where his journey with the 810th began. Under his leadership, the company has consistently demonstrated exceptional adaptability and resilience. Notably, the company has participated in hurricane response missions, the COVID-19 response, and the 46th Presidential Inauguration response.

While we bid farewell to 1SG Johnson, we are confident in his ability to lead his next battalion to further success. We express our gratitude for his exceptional service and unwavering dedication to the personal and professional development of our soldiers and the company. His departure leaves an indelible mark on our organization.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Michelle, 1SG Johnson’s fiancée, for her unwavering commitment to the company. Her support and commitment to the company by giving up her companion during our deployments, long training events, and countless late-night planning sessions have been invaluable.

“We exist to fight and win. We have a real mission, with real consequences for the Nation if we don’t take the profession seriously. This is a hard life. It is not easy. We chose the path that needs a machete to get through. There is thick brush that has to be cleared. It’s a righteous path. Its hard. We embrace that this path is harder than the average path and are proud to be part of it. Thats what being part of this profession really means. Essayons. Let us try. Where others fail, We will succeed”.

Today, a few of our soldiers rucked Stone Mountain in memory of those men and women gave it all. We are eternally grateful for those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for this Nation.

No blockage is too much for our Engineers; they successfully cleared several miles of roadway after Hurricane Helene left her mark on the southeastern part of Georgia. Our Soldiers were able to get several resident out of their homes after, some, had been trapped in for days.

We are extremely thankful and proud of these Soldiers who answered the call when their State needed them.

We also want to thank the community members in all the counties we were assigned too. They truly were a blessing us, ensuring we never went without hot food and water.

Over the past weekend, our Engineers were put to the absolute test. They started the weekend off with a rigorous 12-mile ruck, they went into an oral board, and then moved into our sapper lanes. The lanes consisted of weapons knowledge, hand gr***de knowledge exam and throwing skills, apply a tourniquet, package & move a patient, request a 9-line MEDEVAC, move under fire, SINCGAR & DAGR set up, CBRN DON & DOFF, land navigation written exam, NVG DON & DOFF and identification of items under NVG light, demolition deficiencies identification, knot’s tying, and a PMCS skills exam.

Our Engineers did a fantastic job throughout the entire weekend and really showed the command staff their strengths.

We would like to extend a big thank you to MSgt Palmer with the Airforce for making the drive from Atlanta to come help grade some of the lanes for us!

Our Engineers had an exciting 4-day drill period this past week. We were able to get in some great training and ended the weekend with a friendly competition between our platoon sergeants.

In just 3 short weeks, our Engineers will put their skills and knowledge to the test during our annual Best Sapper competition, so what better way to get our Soldiers ready for the competition than to see their platoon sergeants go head-to-head to determine who has the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round draft picks for Best Sapper.
