“Fry bread is us. We are still here.”

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Join us next Sunday at 11 AM at the Swampscott Farmers Market as we continue the celebration with a special storytime!

We’re excited to welcome everyone’s favorite, Miss Lisa, Head of Children’s Services at the Swampscott Public Library, for a reading of Fry Bread by Kevin Noble Maillard.

📚 Copies of the book will be available for participating families (one per family, while supplies last).
🎨 We’ll also have a craft area set up for kids to enjoy!

We hope to see you there!

What a weekend in Swampscott! 🌊💙

We kicked things off with our Doggy Dip, where 50 pups joined us for a little end-of-season splash! 🐾💦 So many happy (and wet!) dogs made for a great afternoon.

Then, our wonderful Canasta leader, Linda, hosted a Canasta Tournament. Lots of cards, plenty of competition, and a great group of players! 🃏

Sunday brought another great Farmers Market, where we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with our friends at SURE. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us!

And we wrapped up the weekend with Patriots on the Lawn! 🏈 The Pats took on the Bills and came away with the WIN! ❤️💙

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend so much fun. We love seeing our community come together!

The Marblehead community lost one of its own last week with the passing of Owen Coyne, just 18 years old.

Owen was an athlete, a sailing instructor with Marblehead Recreation, and a young person with so much promise.

We know how special the relationships built through these programs can be. Our thoughts are with Owen’s family, friends, teammates, fellow instructors, and the entire Marblehead community.

Sending love and light from Swampscott Rec.
