Swampscott Fire Fighters Union Local 1459 regrets to announce the Line of Duty Death from occupational cancer of Lt. Edward Seligman, retired. RIP Brother.

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Swampscott Fire Department Lieutenant Edward Seligman. Lt. Seligman was a part of the department for close to 18 years before his retirement. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts. Details about the service to follow.

On September 11th, 2024, at 9:55 am, the Swampscott Fire Department will hold a ceremony at our headquarters located at 76 Burrill Street in Swampscott in remembrance of all those lost on 9/11.

The Swampscott Fire Department welcomes the community’s support and attendance during this commemoration.

Swampscott Fire Fighters Union Local 1459 congratulates Captain Jim Snow on his retirement from the department last Friday April 19, 2024. Capt. Snow held the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary -Treasurer and Executive Board member serving for 39 straight years on our Executive Board until one week prior to his retirement. Captain Snow was appointed to the department on November 6, 1983 stationed at Engine #2 with Captain Braccio and Red Delano. He worked for a year prior with the school department. He finished with 40 and a half years on the department, 41 and a half with the Town.

It is with great sadness we share the passing of former Fire Chief William R. Hyde. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday April 24th from 4-8pm at Solimine Funeral Home on Ocean St. and the service will be on Thursday April 25th at 10am at Holy Family Church. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts.
