Huge congratulations to all of our incredible participants who competed at the Eastern Regional 4-H Shooting Sports on Saturday, August 22, at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC! A massive thank you to Coach Drew Berry, our volunteers, and our supportive parents—your dedication and encouragement make all of this possible!

Special shoutouts go to our standout performers who placed or qualified for the State Tournament.

Next stop: States! Brody Tooley, Aiden Davis, and Mason Prince will travel to the North Carolina 4-H State Shooting Sports on October 3, 2026, at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, NC, to compete for a spot on the North Carolina National Team.

What an incredible way to wrap up our 4-H Summer Fun day programs! 🦪🌊

A huge thank you to Zack and Ethan Credle at Currituck Oyster Company (Hyde County, NC) for an engaging and educational oyster farm tour. We had an amazing time learning about oysters, their vital role in our coastal ecosystem, and the importance of protecting their habitat. We can’t wait until the next time!

Our Hyde County 4-H youth had a fantastic day at our 4-H Decoy Carving Class! Youth learned woodworking skills, explored the art of carving hunting decoys, and enjoyed great conversations while learning about a tradition that has long been a part of Hyde County's heritage.

A special thank you to Jerry Talton with the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild, Chase Luker with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, and Robert Manning with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for sharing your time, knowledge, and passion with our youth. Your hands-on instruction and stories made for an unforgettable experience!

We love seeing our youth build new skills while connecting with the traditions that make our community so special. 🦆🔨

Today was a great day at Lee's Bees! Our 4-H'ers learned how honey bees pollinate the crops we depend on, how honey makes its way from the hive to our store shelves, and what it takes to care for healthy bee colonies.

💡 Little-known fact: Lee's Bees' Gallberry honey comes from the small blossoms of the native gallberry holly found in the wetlands and wooded landscapes of Hyde and Bladen Counties in North Carolina. Its deep amber color and mild, smooth flavor make it a favorite for everything from tea and biscuits to fresh fruit. (Lees Bees)

What a fantastic day on our 4-H Meet a Farmer Field Tour! 🌽 🚜🐟🦪

Our 4-H'ers had a blast learning about local agriculture and commercial fishing from the people who make it happen every day.

A special thank you to Good Time Charlie's Fisheries, Williams Seafood, Vivi's Veggies, and Tunnell Farms for your hospitality and for sharing your knowledge with our youth. We appreciate your support in making this a memorable experience! We appreciate our local Agriculture Agent, Andrea Gibbs for helping plan this event as well! 🍀
