It's World Mosquito Day. Mosquito-borne illnesses infect and kill hundreds of thousands of people each year, posing a serious public health issue. Fight the Bite! Protect yourself by emptying sanding water where possible, like buckets or flower pots in your yard, using EPA-registered insect repellent, and wearing long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk, their peak biting times.

Y'all know what they say...an apple a day keeps the Dr. away!

The community orchard has some ready apples. 🍎

The apples are red varieties (Gala and Fuji) so the green ones, like in the second picture, need just a bit more time. Please allow the fruit to ripen and please be respectful and leave some for your neighbors.

DO NOT shake the trees! We have noticed birds nests as well as wasps in the trees so please be careful not to disrupt them!

***The trees have been treated with pesticides so please wash the fruit.*** Check out this article: https://www.marthastewart.com/how-to-wash-fruit-8356276
