🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn our community about an ongoing scam involving gift cards.

If someone contacts you and asks you to purchase gift cards and send them the numbers or photos of the cards — STOP. This is a scam.

Scammers may pretend to be:
• A government agency
• Law enforcement
• A utility company
• A friend or family member in trouble

They often create a sense of urgency, telling you that you must act immediately to avoid arrest, shutoffs, or other consequences.

👉 Remember:
• No legitimate agency or business will ever ask you to pay with gift cards.
• Once you send gift card information, the money is gone and very difficult to recover.
• Always verify the request by contacting the person or organization directly using a trusted phone number.

If you receive a suspicious request:
📞 Do not respond
📞 Do not send money
📞 Report it to local law enforcement

Please share this message to help protect others in our community.

Stay safe, Hyde County.
