NC24 East-Bound Right Lane Closure November 13-15, 2019
November 12, 2019

NCDOT has advised the Town of Swansboro that it will need to close the NC24 East-Bound Right Lane from November 13-15, 2019 to complete traffic light improvements at Norris Road. The lane closure will run from Queens Creek Road to Walmart.

We are accepting donations of unwrapped toys for kids in our area. All donations can be delivered to the

Tropical Storm Force Winds have arrived. Hurricane Force Winds expected by 10pm Thursday night extending through Friday morning.

Reminder: Due to expected conditions during and following Hurricane Dorian, the Town of Swansboro will have in effect a curfew from 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2019 until 8:00 am Saturday, September 7, 2019. The curfew restricts the public appearance of any person other than law enforcement and emergency services personnel within the geographic boundaries of Swansboro except for NC Highway 24.

Storm Shelter is open at Swansboro High School.

Wind – Life threatening winds and wind damage are expected resulting in downed trees, power, and communication outages - Thursday through Friday

Flooding Rain – Prolonged periods of heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding and water covered roads Thursday through Friday

Tornado – A few places could experience enhanced damage due to tornadoes through Friday

Marine – Very dangerous to extreme marine conditions are likely through Saturday

News Alert #2 - Hurricane Dorian
September 3, 2019, 12:00 pm
Tropical Storm Force Winds now expected by 9:00-10:00 am Thursday morning – lasting approximately 25 hours with 6-10 inches of rainfall. Storm surge expected is 4-6 feet above ground level.

Yard Waste pickup in Swansboro has been suspended this week. At this time, solid waste is running on normal schedule.

Onslow County will open a shelter at the Swansboro High School on Thursday morning at 7:00 am.

Swansboro Mayor Davis has signed a proclamation Declaring Swansboro a State of Emergency and called for a Voluntary Evacuation effective at 10:00 am today.

The Onslow County Phone Bank (910) 989-5027 will be operational today from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm and beginning Thursday morning until further notice.

Swansboro Town Hall will be open for normal business at least through Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm. Staff is evaluating the storm and will determine a time to open its Emergency Operations Center on Thursday. When the EOC is opened, the phone at Town Hall (910) 326-4428 will be forwarded to the EOC.

Update for Swansboro Area Credit Card charges:

In regards to the charges from the Swansboro Wendy's on July 11,2019 the charges were not the result of a scam. The Corporation had installed a new credit card reader system in April. The system failed to transmit the scanned cards. If you have questions,please contact the Wendy's customer Service number at 1-888-624-8140. Even if you did not use your card at Wendy's and were incorrectly charged please contact the Wendy's Customer Service number at 1-888-624-8140.

July 4th Independence Day Event
Notice of Street Closures

The Town of Swansboro will hold a July 4th Independence Day Event on Thursday, July 4th, 2019 downtown. Entertainment by the TAMS will begin at 6:00 pm. Food and information vendors will also be set up.

Streets closures will begin on Thursday at 3:00 pm to allow vendors to set up and to clear the streets for the patrons. We ask for your cooperation in having your vehicle(s) moved by 3:00 pm. Streets will re-open at approximately 11:00 pm. Event participation may allow for less street closures. A decision on street closures will be made by the Police Chief as warranted.

Those streets affected by the initial closures include:

- All of Front Street
- All of Church Street
- Water Street from NC 24 to Broad Street
- Main Street from Elm Street to the water
- Elm Street will be open for Southbound traffic
- Walnut Street will be open for Northbound traffic

No vehicular traffic will be permitted within the event area as identified above and on the attached map during the event. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us make the event area a safe environment for all. Space will be provided at Town Hall for merchants and their employees to park.

Pirate Fest Street Closures

NOTICE OF STREET CLOSURES

Saturday, April 27, 2019 Pirate Fest will be taking place. The event begins at 10 am and runs until 3 pm. There will be road closures from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 27. As soon as the event concludes all roads will be re-opened. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
The streets to be affected by the closures are:

• Front Street from Main Street to Church Street •

No vehicular traffic will be permitted on Front Street during the Festival. We will have the barricade positioned at Main and Front in such a way to allow flow of traffic between those streets. We will also have a staff in place by the Chamber of Commerce in case we need to slow down vehicle traffic. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us make the festival area a safe environment for all.

Off-site parking will be available at Ward Farm for anyone who is interested.

The 2018 Swansboro by Candlelight will be held this Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. in downtown Swansboro.

November 10, 2018

The Town of Swansboro is proud to present the annual Mullet Parade this Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. along NC 24.

Please be advised that road closures will be put into place at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning – November 10th and remain in place until the parade concludes. There will not be any admittance onto NC24 during this time. A detour route around the parade will be provided down Main Street Extension. Delays should be expected.
