The Swansea Police Department was proud to take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics today! We received the torch from the Belleville Police Department.

Our officers, supporters, and several Belleville Police Department members had the honor of carrying the Flame of Hope through Swansea in celebration of the incredible Special Olympics athletes who inspire communities across Illinois.

Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer us on and show support, even in the rain. We are proud to stand with Special Olympics and serve as Guardians of the Flame!

The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP) and the Swansea Police Department proudly recognize the dedication and hard work of all law enforcement personnelā€”every single day.

This week, weā€™re especially proud to highlight and honor a group whose contributions are often behind the scenes but absolutely essential: our civilian professionals. From records and dispatch to administrative operations, these dedicated individuals keep our department running smoothly and our community safe.

The Police Department and Mayor Parker have received complaints about e-bikes and e-scooters being operated unsafely in town.

This is a quick reminder that these slow-moving vehicles must be operated safely and responsibly. When e-bikes are used on the roadway, riders must follow the rules of the road, including obeying stop signs, yield signs, and all other traffic laws.

Parents, please talk with your children about these rules and the importance of riding safely.

We had 32 outstanding kiddos join us, and weā€™re so proud of the energy, effort, and enthusiasm they brought each day.

We canā€™t thank everyone enough who helped make this one of the best academies weā€™ve ever had.

We had an amazing time on Saturday helping celebrate Without Limits - Special Olympics Cheer on their 2026 World Championship! There was a fantastic parade and BBQ at the Swansea Moose Lodge. Thank you to the community for showing up and supporting the champion athletes!

Day 2 of the Swansea Police and Fire Youth Academy was packed with excitement, presentations, and hands-on learning! Huge shoutout to all our presenters for helping make day 2 AWESOME!!

We all had the opportunity to experience fire demonstrations, the Fire Safety House, a K9 presentation, a Bomb Squad presentation, and several confidence and team-building drills and exercises. We were also excited to welcome an Arch helicopter, whose crew provided the kids with a fantastic tour.

Today marks our third and final day of the academy, which will conclude with graduation, after some much-needed fun. We look forward to sharing more photos from the final day next week (after we get some rest šŸ˜Ž)!
